2023-24 Boston Celtics starting 5 and core bench lineups

I wonder if Brogdon becomes our starting PG now?
Starters:
Brogdon
White
Brown
Tatum
Zinger

Bench:
Al
Rob
Pritchard
Maybe Grant Williams
One more veteran guard
One more veteran wing

Or does Brogdon stay on bench and JT/JB/White handle the ball?

Please add your thoughts

For now White is the starting PG with Brogdon 6th man again. Need JB to soak up guard minutes based on depth.

Roster will undoubtably change between now and regular season though...

Nope. Rob starts, Brogdon off the bench.

Joe was very careful to make clear his PG hierarchy yesterday (White, Brogdon, Pritchard), while talking up the 2-big lineup.

And Grant's a goner.

Brogdon bench. Curious if KP stays in when JT sits and try to feature JB (with Brogdon) and 3 "accentuators" or if they continue with 3 high usage guys together and keep KP in.

Let's wait a day or two, as the roster will change.

Starting lineup: White | Brown | Tatum | Porzingis | Horford
Closing lineup (most nights): White | Brogdon | Brown | Tatum | Porzingis

Find a way to limit all our 3 centers below 30 mpg. Play Pritchard and Hauser! Tie Brown's minutes with White and Timelord. Tie Brogdon's minutes with Tatum.

My three favorite go-to bench lineups:
White | Brown | MLE | Horford | Timelord (more conventional)
Brogdon | PP | Hauser | Tatum | Porzingis (more shooting/offense)
White | MLE | Hauser | Tatum | Timelord (more movement w/ Rob as hub)

This post will be obsolete in a few hours cos Stevens not done yet lol.

I would love to see Walsh be NBA ready defender and serviceable corner 3 guy. If so,

White/Brown/Walsh/Tatum/RW could be fun for a few minutes.

I seemed to remember Tatum at the PF being our best ever offensive line up or am I dreaming? Maybe in the 2021-22 season. Thankyou for the statistical breakdown in the other thread.

We're slightly better on offense with Tatum at PF last season but better overall with him at SF.
We were way better on offense and overall with Tatum at SF previous season.

IMO, to take advantage of our supersized frontcourt, Tatum should spend most of his minutes at SF. Our smallball defense has also taken a hit with Smart no longer on the team but it's gonna be hard to stop on offense. In any case, Cs can now play 5-out either playing big (Horford-Porzingis) or small (Brogdon or PP).

Timelord
Porzingis
Tatum
Brown
White

has many basketball benefits, and also protects guys physically a little bit. Al can start when one of the other bigs is out, except perhaps on back-to-backs.

The main argument against, IMO, is not passing; Porzingis a huge catch radius, Rob has a similarly large one, and overall the passing will be fine. Rather, it's the desirability of having one shotblocker on the court at all times, which is more easily achieved if Rob is Porzingis' backup.

Not if they S&T Grant for Isaiah Jackson!

White, brown, Tatum, timelord, unicorn
Pp, champagnei, brissett, huaser, horford
JD?, ?,walsh, ? Kornet
And probably 2 two ways instead of 3
That team isn't winning a ring but it's what we got so get used to it!

I knew I was forgetting someone I originally had him starting but then forgot about typing his name lol
So pp, Brogdon, brissett, huaser, horford
JD, champagnei, walsh open roster spot, kornet
Good catch lol

Does a White/Tatum/Hauser/Brissett/Timelord paring do it for you? 8-)

I think if Robert Williams can play like Daniel Gafford did with KP he should start. KP and Gaff were a PLUS when paired together. Gaff and KP blocked alot of shots together which I think KP and RWms. can do the same.

Hey, if Daniel Gafford can play like Robert Williams, he'll be lucky!

The roster should be work in progress
Not all dominos fell IMO
Brogdon, Grant, Pritchard are unknown and we could get a stating piece or end of the bench and future considerations

Right now I think Rob and White start
Brogdon and Al off the bench

Avoid the Brogs and Brown lineups as much as possible.

Restating my starting 5: White, JB, JT, Timelord, KP
I am even stronger in my belief this should be a Rob top of the key heavy offense. His primary purpose is move the ball, set shot clearing picks, dive enough to be dangerous. I can see a more cut focused JB getting good looks. Dribble handoffs to JT. Can White work on his pick and roll? Good amount of focus on getting KP low post mismatches and weakside actions off of that. The other key thing with Rob as top of key ball handler, you force other guys to be moving since you know Rob isn't calling his own number

My IDEAL but possible bench: Brogdon, Horford, Jevonte Green, Usman Garuba, Hauser
