Wow. Didn't think they'd actually fire him. I would've given him another season tbh, I hope ownership knows what they're doing here because this feels like a scapegoat firing to me

The casuals will be happy, but ownership is the problem. Bloom was all but set up to fail.

I was not 100% sold on Bloom at all, but FSG clearly doesn't give a **** about the Sox anymore. Bloom was clearly scapegoated

Chaim was also a poor evaluator of talent,
that along with the low payroll were the two biggest factors
in dropping down to mediocrity.

The fact is that nobody gives a farthing for the Red Sox any more. Tickets to Yankees Red Sox this week were being scalped for a dollar and the stands were still empty.

I'm a casual that won't miss him.

2-3 seasons back, all we needed was a reliable closer.

But time he finally relented and found a closer, the rest of the roster had been ignored somewhat.

Not saying that ownership isn't "the" issue, just saying.

I find it interesting, that there are rumours now, of Ohtani being interested in playing for the Red Sox.
Ohtani is tight with the New Balance CEO who lives in Newton.
