Jrue vs Dame

Question, why did Stevens go after Jrue and not Dame?
Traded Brogdon-Williams-BOS 1st-GSW 1st for Jrue and I think Cronin what had taken the same for Dame if Stevens would had added 2 more BOS 1sts.
Brogdon-Williams-Add’l salary filler-three BOS 1st-GSW 1st for Dame.
Doesn’t Dame make a bigger impact than Jrue? Could or can Stevens pickup defensive role players to plug holes on the defensive end?
Just asking since seems two additional picks would had gotten a deal for Dame done.

Salary. Dame makes too much money.
Or it could have been that Holiday was a bit better when they played with Tatum on Olympic team in Japan.

Dame didnt want to come to Boston, and he makes alot of money. Jrue is cheaper and although he is the inferior player, may be a better fit with this team. Dame needs 5 to 6 more shots a game than Jrue and without the scoring doesnt bring defensive impact that Jrue does.

Not necessarily in order.
1- Salary..
2- Would have taken more assets
3 - Dame doesn't want to share the ball with Tatum Brown and KP vs Probably 1st option on the Bucks and let it be known.
4 - For what Boston needs Jrue is a far better Fit than Dame.
5 - Boston has tried and Failed twice after getting a High powered offensive PG (Kyrie + Kemba)

We have enough scoring, and Jrue fits this teams defensive game plan with his size and switchability. He can also score plenty and shoot the three at 40%.
Dame would be hunted on defense, like Kemba or Kyrie or IT.
Similarly, teams can't slack off Jrue hoping that Tatum/Brown will pass off to him to let him jack up threes like Marcus- because Jrue will make them pay.

The gap between Jrue and Dame would have been $18m, so now D White is added in the deal. Pass.
Three years from now he’ll be an immovable $63m
The only opportunity to make a run at Dame was before the JB extension. Once that was inked, the door was virtually shut.

Celtics were talking to the Blazers about Dame before he went to the Bucks, according to Shams and others. Portland just knew they had a chance to really load up on assets with the double move.

Never made sense cause Dame didnt want boston and once Jaylen got extended, even if he had changed his mind, salary would've been insanely hard to get too + compromising Tatum his age 29 years with dame at 36 at a 35% max.
Jaylen + rob would've made some sense but that was before Dame softened his stance on other teams and even then it was only Nets and bucks.

Brad loves low maintenance and team first players. Jrue fits that descirption like a glove, additionally he's talented as well.
Dame might be a better player but we have stars we need players who fill the role besides them not players who take away from them.

Dame put it out there that he did NOT want to play for Boston.
Dame has always been a me first player
Damme doesnt like to play defense.
Jrue has always been a competitor who puts the team first
Jrue plays defense
Easy choice.

As others have said:
-Dame did not want to come to Boston. He only wanted Miami, and then later added milwaukee and brooklyn to his list of preferred destinations
-Dame made too much money so it would have been too hard for us to match salary to get Dame..and it would have been too hard to pay Dame along with paying all of our other guys - especially with the new CBA and with the amount of $ JB got on his supermax..
With that being said, we did have conversations with Portland about acquiring Dame so we did try to get him. But due to the reasons listed above, we didn't get Dame.

Dame is a better player, but Jrue is easier to fit into a roster with his defense and cheaper salary. Add into it the fact that Jrue put us on his short list and Dame put us on his **** list and I think that pretty much sums it up.
