I don't like what I saw from the guys after hauser and pritch.
korny had some good moments but I'll still pass on him... I know, he's a lock for C3, just not feeling him. This was his best game of the preseason IMO. Had some real contests instead of the Korny Kontest.
Banton and Brissy must be great in practice. Ewww. I like the vids from Brissy tho.
I hope Queta and Svi get those minutes next game. Wenyen and Lamar may have joined too late, Joe has his favs already.
That first clip was a JB-led possession where he dribbled out the clock and just got bailed out by Tatum with a late-clock three. 3rd quarter offense ground to a halt. Insanity to me the coaching staff still allow him to initiate like this. Book is out on how to defend him on iso. STOP ISO-ing. Telling you, he'll get his shots no matter what. Just keep that ball moving.
-absolutely over the moon we’re not going into another season with both Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown. Tatum has a lot of room to grow in decision making but those two guys together was just a meltdown waiting to happen.
-with that said, absolutely no improvement or anything different from Jaylen, or at least no glimpses of anything else to expect versus what we already known about who he is.
-Tatum definitely stronger. Love it. Curious to see if he can maintain that all year.
-I think we’ll rate well on defensive rebounding but I’m concerned about consistency. Gotta be better here still.
-will we see yet another season of letting bad teams crawl back into games? I don’t think you can take everything you see in preseason with all of the salt in the world but I don’t think there isn’t something to learn.
-I love KP. I want more and more two man action with him and JT.

Brad really had no choice but to super max him, but barring some miraculous growth in his game, I think he'll get traded either next summer or the one after that. Brad has no reservations about trading guys when it's time to move on.
A bunch of scattered notes from last night's game:
Zinger is just a cheat code on offense.
Jrue needs, unsurprisingly more time and reps on offense. You can see the flashes but he doesn't yet know where guys will be for kick outs all the time and the bigs dont realize yet jrue is a serial screen rejecter, similar to brogdon.
85% of what went wrong, aka open looks for the knicks or turnovers for the celtics was miscommunication. Only upwards from here.
Hauser's first stint was awesome. Switching, rotating hard. Always knew where to be on defense and made sure he was there with high hands and high contests. Driving after the closeouts and adjusting after he got blocked hard at the rim the first time. Drove and when the help sank, immediately made the skip pass to al in the corner.
15 corner 3's are a whole heck of a lot of corner 3's.
Jaylen will require longer than tatum/KP to adjust to new offense but he showed some flashes. People focus on the bad and it was very noticeable but there was good too. Got semi open for a pullup 3 on a JB/kp pick and pop but made a great little pocket pass for a wide open kp 3 after pumpfaking the defender off balance. Had some other good passes to kp. Needs to learn from JT to pass early and trust the ball to find him again. Catch the ball more on the move. People won't be patient with him but seriously all of this will look better (for everyone) by December. JB will never be as in the flow as some others but there will be real growth i think.
Tatum looks strong af and is gonna bully hard. Also his pullups were wet af. Just net snapping.
Pace is way higher but that's common for preseason. Would be good to see that hold up but i don't expect it to last past december.
Horford looking to do more than just spot up, will have more freedom to do that off the bench.
White looks thicker in a good way.
No one is scoring on KP at the rim but need to gang rebound when KP goes to help/contest.
They're trying a whole bunch of stuff, unsure what will stick but its interesting. Don't hate the press.
Zinger diving for the steal off the press is cool.
Jaylen doing some better screen navigation work.
Preseason defensive intensity waxes and wanes alot lol
Knicks have a lot of guys, will make for interesting decisions to see who plays and can do it consistently.
Brisset does a lot of good things but it doesn't mean anything if he cant finish. Would be greatly helped if he took 1 more step or dribble. starts his jump too early.
Pritchard better decision making but limited by size. Knows which pass to make but too small to see it.
Banton belongs on an NBA court but hard to play him with the scrubs. Will work better in lineups with spacing. For folks who asks what kornet does better than Queta, its being in position and contesting a lot without fouling. Its conservative but i get it. Nemias better with the scrubs though.
Hauser is our 7th best player. The level up in passing and defense might just be large enough to make him a meaningfully more viable rotation guy against the best competition.
Preseason caveats apply, none of this might be anything.
11/0 combined in A/TO. (!) 4 different guys with 2 OR each.
Starters did more than the bench in scoring and steals/blocks, even though Hauser had the 3rd best offensive line on the team. (Jaylen vs. Sam: 2 more points, 6 more FGA, 4/4 more on A/TO.)
I’ll add to whoever is **** on Jaylen; he did have 6 assists. I’m not denying the 4 tovs or that he fell back into old and bad habits at times but I won’t ignore the good either. For every possessions he went 1 v 3 or over dribbled, he had 1-2 where he made quick decisions or good passes. Yeah he got locked up a couple of times, he also blew past those same guys and dunked it or made a quick 3 when given space.

In both clips a big came to set a pick for him but Jaylen failed to turn that into any kind of an advantage. Kinda hard to blame the coaching staff for that.
I hope we see Svi play on Thursday. It's tough to play two new starters and also get a bunch of new reserves figured out. But Svi has done well and has a place on this team

Jaylen's career AST/TO ratio is around 1.1. Usually when he has a 4 turnover game that means he's below 1 AST/TO in that game. If he can dish out 6 assists on nights he's turning the ball over often, I'd be far more willing to live with the TOs. 1.5 AST/TO ratio is not bad and we'd be in a really good spot if he can hit that number over the course of the season

*assists where he throws a bailout pass to a teammate who's well covered but converts the tough shot anyway.
