The match up of weird exCeltics vs a possible future Celtic will apparently be shown live on the ESPN app at 12:45 Eastern time, for those interested.
Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul vs. undefeated Real Madrid. Guerschon Yabusele and Vincent Poirier vs. Yam Madar.

This is the first time I've seen Yam Madar. He's got long arms, a great handle, and passes well, but he's very slight. His size may keep him from the NBA. He doesn't look for his shot, though he hit his first three pointer.
Madar didn't play in the first quarter, but came in at the beginning of the second and turned the game around with his energy.
Poirier can run and jump but is limited. Tavares is enormous and crazy long, but fairly slow. Yabusele is out indefinitely with a knee injury.
Euroleague ball is fun. Great in-arena atmosphere. The breaks are very short. The best thing is having British commentators. After one half of basketball I think British commentators should be mandated for all games everywhere.

The group of folk the world is missing out on for sports commentary is Hood. Not regular degular black folks like Reggie Miller, Doc, etc.
People who are intelligent and are knowledgeable on sports, but they talk in a way people might say is “ghetto” or “broken English.” It’s super entertaining. It’s just not PC (lots of cussing), they wouldn’t allow it on national TV.
A cleaner version is what Leslie Jones does on Instagram during the Olympics. Top tier!!
They say the things I scream at the TV, funny and real!

Woowwww. After a teammate's steal, Yam Madar just won that game by laying in the ball with the clock running out in overtime, giving Real Madrid their first loss of the season. 17 points on 6 for 10 shooting for Yam. They inserted him back in just before that play.

I was watching the game because I'm a Fenerahce fan. What a wild ending. Hadn't really warmed up to Madar so far with us but that winner changed that!!

The announcer seems to think his name is "Yamadar".

i think 3... maybe 4. i bet he gets a 2way at the very least next season because he didn't want to go back the last 2 seasons. it's not fair to him, but i also dont know the rules.

Yamadar Madar has a nice ring to it. The game winner earns him some extra syllables.

this reminds me not to coach my players to get pinned in the corner, jump, and throw the ball towards two defenders with the clock running down and a one-point lead. Then (different guy), frantically beg for a 5-foot inbound pass so you can chuck an 85-footer.
But good game from Yam! I agree with what Gant said -- I like his game a lot, but when I first saw him in his first summer league game thought "dang he looks too small" -- and "slight" is the word for it. As he ages maybe he's getting a bit stronger, and I'm not giving up hope, but he may 'just' be a really good Euro player, we'll see.

Unfortunately I think the ship on Yam might have sailed. He's not likely to accept a 2-way (he shouldn't imo) and we aren't likely to offer him a guaranteed contract unless we free up backcourt roster space over the summer (i.e. trading Pritchard, maybe even JD, with no incoming replacements)

Always good to be reminded of this when coaching lol

In theory this would have been the ideal "draft and stash" year to bring Madar here. They went from 3 quality guards to 2. They could have signed (or not) Pritchard and Madar could have been signed to a minimal contract. Short of a longer term injury I don't see how he gets here this year. Even with an injury they would probably go with a guard with NBA experience.

Yam became a fan favorite with one play!! They just made an edit for him comparing him to Fener (and Celtics) legend Gigi Datome who also scored a buzzer beater against Real Madrid a few years ago

I don't think Brad wants more than 1 small guard on the standard roster at a time, So I doubt Madar gets signed, unless Pritchard is off the team. Plus we have 2 other guards on the roster who technically aren't small but not exactly big either (Jrue and D-white are both 6'4").
It's no coincidence we signed Banton who's like 6'8"/6'9" to a minimum contract instead of Madar.
Plus, Banton was probably more willing to go to a team where he was not getting any real guarantee of playing time. Madar on he other hand, is probably going to stay overseas (where he gets consistent playing time and is making game winning shots in front of packed crowds like the one vs Real Madrid) unless he can compete for some legit playing time in the NBA - wich probably won't happen on a team as good as Boston - at least not as long as Pritchard is here.
