And on the team-building side, he's undoubtedly been awful in the past few years. No way around it. But this narrative has been drawn that he always had lousy rosters and Brady covered for them. In addition to my point above about how Brady wasn't THAT guy for the early part of their time together, it's not true. He built 2 decades worth of STACKED teams. He's as legendary a GM/roster builder as he is a coach. The well clearly ran dry at the end and now it's a big project to rebuild it, but team building is hard. Scouting is hard. Drafting in the NFL is hard. No one can realistically be expected to go 24 years straight without pitfalls and he was elite at it for the majority of that time.

There's just been so much unfair characterization of his whole career based on the last few years and the circumstances around it with the whole Brady thing. He's a legend in both roles and we should be grateful we got to witness it on our home team.

I quit following football a long, long time ago - but not only above, he took a franchise that was synonymous with being the definition of absolute crap and did the biggest 180 possible. I think people tend to forget what a trash franchise the patriots were.
