Can the Celtics win a championship this year?

Can the Celtics win a championship?

I know 80% of you will say, "We have an extremely talented team, and high chance to win the championship". But lets analyze deeper.

Getting blown out by Bucks and Clippers doesn't sit well with me. An I will tell you why, because of a lack of effort. KG was the one that said and I'm paraphrasing: "You have to go all out every game, every play even during the regular season, because that is what prepares you for the playoffs. Leave everything out on the court, and that includes training in the gym, and being prepared for every game."

This is a leadership issue that stems from the top, our leaders Tatum/Brown and our coach. An i think it has been that way for the last 5 years. Often our team takes plays off, slow to get back on defense, shooting high number of 3s instead of driving to the rim, slow on switches, etc. They pick and choose when they want to show up.

An that is just not going to cut it. This is the most talented team the Celtics have had since KG/Pierce/Ray. But talent won't get you anywhere with the talent pool in the NBA. Only hard work will get you there. An with these guys making 60 million/year guaranteed, where is the motivation and how strong is it?

Between our coach and our players, they need a change of mind set, high motivation, and a set goal or they will get to the semi finals, or finals on pure talent but will fail to win a championship. An in the end, nothing else really matters, particularly in Boston.

They obviously can, but it’s going to be a struggle when the games slow down and they can’t just launch 50 3’s in every game. They will most likely have to win a few games where they hit like 8-10 three’s in a slow paced, half court setting and that’s not when they are at their best. Specially not against elite squads.

He's predicted no championship every time since he joined RealGM so he's actually 11 for 11.

I think we will reach the finals. If we face the full roster Nuggets there, I think we’ll lose. We can (not will, can) beat any other team in the finals.

You need Tier 1 superstar to pair with another Tier 2 superstar in order to win. We don't have that.

Nah my man. I don't think think they have that. Tatum is not tier 1 Generational Superstar and is not in the same league as LeBron, Curry, Jokic, Giannis and a few others. The kid is good, but not good to lead you to championships. We have seen his performance down the stretch in important games versus good teams. He crumbles if his ISO game is not working and his 3 point shot chucking not going in. If you think he is Tier 1 Superstar, I humbly disagree.

How ma y of you would trade Tatum if you had the chance of getting these players:

Embiid
Luka Doncic
Nikola Jokic
SGA

Prime LeBron
Prime Curry
Prime KD

I will even put Anthony Edwards in there as to "NOW"

Unless you have a time machine, there's no way to get prime Lebron, KD, and Curry.

Let's just agree to disagree because it will be sweeter once JT raises that NBA Finals trophy.

I mention those names as thry arexyour true Tier 1 Superstars. 10 x out of 10 i would give Tatum for Luka, Embiid, Jokic, Giannis and SGA.

Tatum is not 19 anymore and hitting or maybe has already hit his prime. In 5 yrs or more what do you do with him if they don't win it all. If they always reach ECF and lose (or the finals) that is a clear sign that Tatum doesn't have what it takes to get you over that hump, thus far he has shown that he doesn't. We need to be realistic here. Jaylen Brown, great all star player but no way does he deserve a contract that true Tier 1 level generational superstars make.

You have US Navy, then you have Navy Seals, then you have Delta Force DevGru. In many instances you need DevGru special, special players to win it all. Celtics don't have it. On top of all this, they have a decent center in KP who isa huge risk and injury prone, unproven bench also. We need to take off the green googles here and be honest at times.

Honest?

McHale only made 1st team All-NBA once and he's a HoFer with 3 rings.

Paul Pierce is a HoFer with 1 ring, but never made All-NBA 1st team, not even once.

JT already has 2 1st team All-NBA selections at the age of 25.

What the Cs have now is Team 6!

That's like Seal Team 6 and JT is Bravo 1!
