Best Off-Season Since 2008
Never been this satisfied in an off-season since the Celtics mauled the Lakers in the 2008 Finals.
And bringing back all the key players from last season is icing on the cake.

2023 offseason was better.

Nah, the 2023 off-season was about why did the Celtics go down 0-3 against Miami in the ECF.

As far as how we are feeling…basking in the glow of a championship…sure I get this one being one of the best, and locking in the team for a couple more years is great. I think the transactions last year that set this all up. Smart for Porzingis and Brogdan, RW and picks for Jrue really made 2023 pretty incredible. Those trades and the anticipation after they were made.

Yeah, those trades made this year happen.
But I really didn't feel good the whole off-season last year.
Watching Denver dominate Miami and winning the finals was annoying, to say the least.

When we go to sleep, the Celtics are champs.
And when we wake up, the Celtics are champs!
What a great off-season!

The only thing that could kill this vibe is if John Henry buys the Celtics.

You are right on that, we need to keep that group as far away from the Celtics as possible.

It's better than 2008. Losing Posey and passing on DeAndre Jordan was a major buzzkill.
Dominant champs, but a little weak at C and shallow on veteran depth - so cheap out on the 6th man glue guy and ignore the lottery pick big that fell in our lap

Yeah, the championship feeling started dissipating when the Cs lost Posey to free-agency.
I was really pissed at the Celtic owners for that.

Re: Best Off-Season Since 2008
James Posey wasn't an important enough player that the Celtics championship chances hinged on him. Ainge building a team of 80% nonshooters was probably the biggest reason the Big Three didn't win more.

Posey could defend 3 positions and make 3s.
He was the 6th man.
The bench was never the same with Posey gone.
Maybe the Cs would have won Game 7, in LA, in that 2010 Finals if it was Posey instead of Tony Allen coming off the bench.

Re: Best Off-Season Since 2008
Seriously, Wyc let Posey leave because the Cs only wanted to give Posey a 3-year deal.
Posey wanted a 4-year deal.
For an additional 4th year worth 6m they let their best bench player leave in free-agency.

Or Jordan instead of Shelden Williams. Ughhh

You're actually a year behind, in both instances.
2007 was a fantastic Off-season. And 2023 compares to that.

The 2007 off-season is comparable to the 2023 off-season.
Cs got the pieces, in both years, that led to a championship in that NBA season.
I didn't like the 2013 off-season because it was the end of an era.

Yeah. My mistake. 2007 is comparable to 2023. Where have the years gone. Lol

I'm wondering if we'll ever see another Celtics vs. Lakers finals in our lifetime.

One more month to go and the great feeling of winning a championship will turn into feeling of a repeat.

Re: Best Off-Season Since 2008
I still can’t believe this time last year I felt optimistic about our chances. Then holiday was traded to Portland and I was like, we are going to get him there’s no doubt. When the Woj bomb hit my screen it didn’t surprise me at all. Let’s hope we can win it again this year
