Re: Joe Mazzulla Thread, Head Coach, con't
Joe is talking about the players will to get better, which is great
I think that his will to get better is even stronger. He is constantly learning, studying different ways to coach (football, soccer etc), studying the game on a high level, refining his skills in-game and preparing the team better
He seems crazy sometimes, but as much as I criticized him in the past, I now appreciate him even more. We are fortunate to have him
Just think what kind of monster coach he can be in 3-4 years

Re: Joe Mazzulla Thread, Head Coach, con't
Oh man I'm willing to bet over half of my 77 posts on Joe in this thread were not positive ones. He's won me over. I'm just hoping it works out better than the last psycho I fell in love with
. At least I can be sure there won't be custody and child support involved this time...

NBA Coaches with Highest Win %, incl. Playoffs (min. 200 games):

Only Bird (0), Cunningham (1), and Mazzulla (1) don't have multiple titles as coach from list above.

The GP is a little weird to me for coaches

You know Joe would if he was allowed to.

Can't believe wanting to wish the referees a Merry Christmas warrants a $35K fine. Bah Humbug!

I thought Joe might get 1 game suspended for those antics.
Overall, Joe is a great character, a great spokesman for Celtics tradition and culture, & a great mentor for Tatum, Brown & White. So all things considered Joe is doing a good job IMO

I just want to know what was the fine the ref got, because the technicals party isn't in the official basketball rules and probably costs us the game

Atkinson is doing a hell of a job with his rotation and minutes. Joe can't fall into the trap of relying on the starters during the regular season.

Atkinson is a good coach, he seems a little out of the Steve Kerr school of condescension though, really thinks highly of his own genius, Quin Snyder disease, lol … but a good coach for sure.

Re: Joe Mazzulla Thread, Head Coach, con't
I saw this compilation of Brad Stevens coached sets from the Kyrie and Kemba versions of the team. I recall Brads first 2-3 seasons with Bradley, Turner, and then IT being his most creative from an X’s and O’s Perspective. But even here, Brad was such an elegant offensive coach, there’s some really nice plays in this video.
Anyway, the way the Cs in that era used the entire floor, running complex off ball actions and misdirection Initiated from varied points presents a stark contrast to the current version of the team, where most of the action takes place with players stationed beyond the 3pt line.
Im hopeful that Coach Mazzulla can increase the diversity of the offensive attack as the season goes on because, when you look at the Stevens coached offense, the present version of our offense is more static and predictable.

Re: Joe Mazzulla Thread, Head Coach, con't
I don't often partake in coach bashing since I figure I'm not a coach and not in the locker room, and probably just not understanding the point of things that seem weird to me, but there's a reason for this and that.
I still can't come up with a reason to play Queta over Kornet in OT last night. Luke had one the best games of his career and then watched Queta make mistakes and contribute to a loss.

Gonna miss KP but he's no Georges Niang.

I've heard it's for when we will need him in those types of situations later on, maybe even in the playoffs, and by then hopefully he would've learned the lessons he needed to learn.
Take the L now and reap the rewards tomorrow. Sometimes can't have both -- develop young guys with upside and also win January games.
