What will the Celtics and/or Jaden Springer likely do?

What are are options with Springer?
Option 1
I'm thinking that Stevens tries to Trade him again, by the Trade Deadline; without sending out another 2nd Round Pick?
Option 2
If Celtics can't pull off a Trade, then they try a Buyout?
Option 3
If the Buyout doesn't get agreed upon, then Waive & Stretch?
Option 4
If all else fails, then just leave him on the Roster. Let him walk, at the End of the Season?
Option 5
Re-sign him to a lower rate in the Off-Season (with periodic Guarantee dates)?
These are all tough Options.
But, thinking more about it. It seems that Springer is in no hurry to cooperate with the Celtics?
Jaden hasn't chosen to go down to the G League, for reps.
He also must not be showing too well in Practice, or he'd be on the floor?
He's not required to do any of these things. Only, sit back and collect his check.
But, is that what Springer wants to do?
Either way, it's a Hardball Game, by both sides.
Can he afford to do that, going forward, for the health of his Career?
Final Question:
Will any NBA Team pick up Jaden Springer for the 2025-26 Season?

The Celtics can't force Springer to go down to the G League?

No. He has too many years in.
But he can go, if he wants.

I expect they just keep him for the season but don’t make a qualifying offer. Then consider bringing him on at a minimum if they don’t find better options or another team doesn’t want him.
If they can find a team willing to take him on without sending a pick then they might do that.

I picked "just leave him on the roster" but would've picked "they trade him with a 2nd" if it'd been an option, because I would guess that they want to show new owners/bidders that look, we're fiscally responsible, right?

Jaden Springer's contract will probably expire as a Celtics player at the end of the year. Don't think teams are trying to get in line for acquiring Jaden Springer.

Celtics have two picks next draft in the 28-35 range. Don't think you will see Springer back next year. More likely Drew Peterson promoted next year and Springer hits the road.

I chose "leave him on the Roster, 'til the End of the Season". Jaden hasn't had the opportunity to really prove anything to anybody (except me apparently), and I don't see Brad letting him go at a loss.
Dude has that Marcus vibe to him. I think he's worth keeping on the roster for this season unless a good deal can be made with a team that wants to give him a run. After this season, he can try his hand in the open market and see what is available. He could be back at a discount from the current contract.
I'm still wondering if Walker will fill that 15th spot by the deadline, meaning the Celtics pay the tax but it's not as hefty as it is now. Having the Walker/Springer Yin/Yang on the bench is not too bad al all for insurance.
There are proposals of trade for a vet, like Theis or Shake Milton. I don't see Theis being better than the bigs we have, but Milton is interesting as a guard backup that can shoot the three. Straight up trade with Nets for Springer if they pack it in and want to let a vet go and try out some young, still unproven guy like Springer. I suppose that is my second choice if the team wants to move on from him sooner than later.

Does this need/deserve its own thread? Could've just been put in the springer thread or a post in the FA/trade thread, no?
Did Romeo langford have his own thread AND a separate thread for "what to do with Romeo Langford?" What about Carsen Edwards..
Not trying to be combative. It's genuine feedback.
A poll could be added to any thread. Or the question could just be asked in the thread, without a formal poll..

This is a Poll, Hal.

Can we create a thread that has a poll on whether or not Springer needs a second thread?

I think Springer stays if Brad can't find a favorable trade then we sign Peterson for the 15th spot near the end of reg season so he's eligible for the postseason. Then Springer re-signs for the cheap ala Tillman next season. I still think this FO values continuity unless player absolutely sucks and/or is an awful fit.

A lot of Members thinking that Springer stays, and potentially signs another Contract. He does have good Defense.
Jaden would seem to improve his position if he went down to Maine, and worked on his Offense.

I see Cason Wallace on OKC (30% 3-pt shooter; 50% TS%) and think Springer just needs opportunity to play. It's possible it's not with us.
Cason Wallace playing 26 mpg for OKC might also be a factor in why they aren't elite on offense hehe. Joe likes them shooters/spacers unless it's a big like K or Q.

It does look like you're splitting hairs, and not acting like the Switzerland that you said that you were going to be.
Also, we generally don't just add a Poll to someone else's Thread.
If you don't like the Poll, then just stop commenting on it, so that it doesn't keep popping up to the top.

They attach a 2nd or two to his contract at the deadline to get someone to take him for free. Backfill his roster spot with Peterson on a pro-rated minimum deal.
They like him as a prospect. They took a flier on him. It hasn’t panned out. It happens, even with the best of talent evaluators. Can’t keep chasing the sunk investment cost. It’d be financially irresponsible to not try and move him for savings at the deadline, in all honesty.

If we Traded him with no-player in return, then I believe that we could bring over Lonnie Walker, and bring up Drew Peterson?

I don't understand why he doesn't play at all. He is not unplayable. It is like Ime and Pritchard few years ago.

He defends. 3 pt shot away from being good. Looks like they are showcasing him a little tonight.

Based on this article, Brad would rather hold on to our draft picks which can be used to make the team better - as opposed to losing valuable draft capital just to save a few bucks on the tax bill.

That articles says they weren't willing to do it in the offseason to make room for Walker. That doesn't mean they never would.
The Celtics are $31.3M over the tax threshold. They pay $4.75 tax for every dollar over.
Springer's full year salary is $4,018,363. if they traded him midseason, for ease of calc, they'd save $2,009,182 in salary. Assuming they filled his spot by converting Peterson the rest of the way, his pro rated minimum that the pay will be $578,577. So the net savings on salary paid out would be $1,430,605.
However, for tax purposes, they'd be paying tax on Peterson's $578,577 instead of Springer's $4,018,363. It would reduce their tax bill by $16,338,984. Add in the salary savings and it's $17,769,589 total saved by making that move.
In regards to your original point referencing Walker as well, if they did this maneuver before the season he'd have signed for $2.1M instead of the under $600K for Peterson. So the savings would have been way less. That's an important point to make.
https://www.sportico.com/leagues/basketball/2024/nba-team-values-warriors-knicks-lakers-lead-1234820970/According to this, the team made about $30M EBITDA last year. That gives you an idea of scale. This year their tax bill is about $25M higher (and salaries are up too). I'm sure revenue is up with the title too and general inflation. But just doing the math, $18M seems to be a pretty significant impact to their EBITDA, and I'm sure that's a key metric as they're trying to sell. "Save a few bucks" seems to be overly dismissive of the total financial savings, IMO. It seems material to their business model in my estimation.
I'm a fan. I never want to see them any moves to save money instead of hoarding assets and/or improving the team. But I'm also an accountant and a realist - it seems like pretty bad business on their end to not give up a 2nd round pick to save that much money. I can't hate at all if that's the small concession they make for signing all of our actually good players.
