To move to the Next round, I gotta go with.:

1. -- Bill Russell
8/9 Foxx & Moss. IDK Foxx. = Not sure
4. -- Pedro Martinez
5. -- Phil Esposito

2. -- Belichick, over Shilling
7. -- Garnett & Pierce
3. -- Kevin Garnett
6. -- Parish & McHale

By way of contrast, there's only one real candidate for worst trade.

But that's now over a century ago. So what were the worst trades in the interim?

Worst trades of the Celtics in my tenure as a fan have to be trading away Joe Johnson and Chauncey Billups as go for it now moves by Rick Pitino.

And then trading the last Nets pick for Kyrie that could have been Colin Sexton, Mikel Bridges or SGA.

Trading for Vin Baker was a doozy.

Don't watch hockey or baseball and I'd just be nostalgic voting for Russell because unless I were alive to watch the games live, my interest is not there.

I went McHale and Parish 1st because growing up in the 80's and watching the Celtics in the Bird and Magic era on those marquee weekend matchups made me the fan that I am. Didn't get cable till 94' so national CBS was it for me.

KG 2nd because without that trade who knows what direction the C's would have went, instead that evolved into the next trade (was there ever a thread discussing a "what if", if KG and Ray never happened? Possible Pierce trade, Doc not lasting, the 07' 5th pick, being a lottery team again.)

KG and Pierce 3rd because without that trade they wouldn't be where they are right now

I tried to spread it around the various sports, but couldn't help putting two Celtics ones in there:
1. Russell
2. Pedro
3. Belichick
4. Parish and McHale

I will admit I don't even know who Foxx (Red Sox) and Esposito (Bruins) are.

Same picks I had though I reversed Pedro and Belichik

KG amongst others would say Prince was the better basketball player. Certainly the better guitar player...

It's tough decisions, But I think the Final 4 should be (even though all are Basketball moves).:

1. -- Bill Russell

7. -- Garnett & Pierce
3. -- Kevin Garnett
6. -- Parish & McHale

Edit:
Russell is the Trade that started it all. Celtics wouldn't be the Celtics with him/ that Trade.
Similar for the other 3 Trades.

We won 3 Titles with the Bird Era. And were in Contention for 3 more, with the Pierce Era.
Then you have Pierce & Garnett doing the team a Massive Solid, that brought in our Current Champions.

How many times have these 4 Trades brought us to the Finals, outside of Russell?

Jimmie Foxx was with the Red Sox for only the minority of his career, and they never won a pennant with him.

So why is he in this discussion?

I voted for Parish/McHale trade. 2 HOFers for a pick is incredible. However, imagine if Ainge kept the last Nets pick and drafted SGA……wow……Brown/Tatum/SGA/Young + filler for over-the-hill Pierce/Garnett would be the best sports trade of all time.

It's gotta be Russell.

After Russell, the biggest steal IMHO was Rick Robey for Dennis Johnson.

Heathcliff Slocumb for Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek

Looks like chalk held up -- as long as Russell wins:)
