Sign Al Horford or Luke Kornet

Post#1 » by playa-hater » Fri Mar 21, 2025 2:45 pm

Reading the other posts about this summer + New owners + the impending free agency + potential 450+ Million in salary next year, who among Al and Luke do we keep?? Obviously can not rule out they both sign first. But in the very likely scenario that Boston can only re-sign one, who do you have. I am guessing Al is more beloved > Kornet. Al currently provides great playoff experience and more versatility. Luke is a young Prime player who certainly Fits well with what Boston does. And will be around much longer.

Or even let them both walk and try to upgrade somehow.

PS.. I am guessing winning everything or not can affect this outcome.

It doesn't make sense to let either of them go.
If it's about getting under the 2nd Apron, then I'd much rather Trade Jrue Holiday, for no money back.

There should be an Option in the Poll, to keep both.
I'll bet that choice would Win.

I would gladly sign both for vet min, though Luke will probably get more lucrative offers this summer.

Sign both. Trade Sam if you have to instead. Sorry, Sam.

Interesting. My original intent, what's to see which center would be deemed more valuable to bring back. A bit surprised to see other options in order to keep both centers. If trading holiday is the answer I would like to know what we would get in return.

If by trading Sam you wanna open the doors for someone like baylor to take his spot, i am still very concerned about Baylors defense. So at this point I would hesitate to let sam go considering his contract value and ability.

Not about Baylor for me. Just in terms of on-court importance, I go Al, Luke, Sam. I know Sam's elite shooting and solid D, but I feel like he's the one you could fill in for most easily. Not necessarily replacing everything, but with the least overall detriment. Whether it's Baylor, Craig, draft pick, FA, whatever.

I'm for keepign both and if we have to save money then Sorry Sammy camp as well. Would love to keep Hauser as he fits a role well and knows the system, but feel his position can be easier replaced by a vet min signing than Al or Kornet. The big reason we weren't in on guys like Trent Jr. were lack of playing time, not the salary cap issues as several signed for vet min on other rosters. The reason for lack of pt was we have a set top 8 and then Queta and at least heading into the season Tillman looking like solid 9/10 options. Tillman is end of bench now, and if Hauser is gone there's minutes available for a guy looking to win while on a make good contract.

Keep both if you can.
The Notorious Green Kornet probably gets 8 million at a minimum and Big Al at the same would be a discount. given the tax situation IDK if both is realistic. I’d like Al to inhabit Luke like an avatar if we can only keep one.

Be thrilled if we could get both resigned for same money as this year (roughly $12M). Maybe they switch salaries with each other, $6M each or whatever combo would be a win in my opinion.

I don’t understand. It’s not about whether Al is more beloved, he’s A LOT better than Korny. I’m telling yall, there is no hate for Korny because I want him here too, but I know for a fact people don’t really appreciate Al the player! Player vs. Player or even if Al needs more, it’s Al all day and infinity on Sunday. Al can start in the playoffs and help you win a chip, until he can’t, it’s him.

The answer is both, but it probably doesn’t work that way. I’ll be sick if they think 10m is too much for Al! Hell, it’s too little but I’m sure he’ll take it. I know his age but teams would love to have Al! Okc could use playoff Al! Lakers would give him more if they could get him there. EVERY team not forcing him with Embiid would! Give Al his UD MONIES!!!

Lopez is a good player, but I bet Giannis would exchange for Al in a heartbeat (unless it’s friends over everything)! He’d rather play against Lopez than Al!

I have to believe that Horford will accept Vet Min ( $3.99 Mil but only 2.5 Mil on the books for lux tax) so he will be back.

Kornet is trickier because they will probably offer him Vet Min ( $3.3 Mil but only $2.5 Mil on the books for Lux Tax) and it depends on how much more he would want to move his family. If someone offers him 2 years $12 M ($6 Mil per year) he's likely gone. So, it depends.

I expect Jordan Walsh to get traded since his guarantee is only $200k Next season so someone could pick up, get him to play Summer League, Training Camp and the first 5 games or so and then just waive him and pick up a G-Leaguer in his place.

Xavier TIllman will be tougher to move since he has no purpose at this point and the Celtics will probably draft a guard and Stretch PF with their #28 and #31 picks.

It all depends on how much they command in salary. Luke is going to get way more than $3.3. He could be a #2 big on a team like the Lakers. I am guessing that we should try to resign him but is going to be too expensive after his play this year. Al is coming back i bet for vet min.
