Austin Ainge is gone to Utah.
Our former Director of Scouting Remy Cofield left the org a few months ago.
Front office now is basically just Brad, Zarren and Ashley Battle (a scout).
They might need to hire someone from this forum sometime soon (half kidding)..

It was only a matter of time. Surprised he stayed in Boston this long.

I don't even know what if anything he has done since Daniel Theis. Whatever. Should open up some better communications between Brad and Ainge.

This is unsurprising news. I was hoping Austin could get hired to run his own team, he interviewed for Charlotte last summer, to spread out the Celts FO tree to as many as franchises as possible. But Austin Ainge going to Utah seemed the likeliest landing spot for him.
This is a great chance for some fresh ideas and new people for the Celts front office though, and I think refreshing the talent pool is a good and necessary thing; Austin was here for almost 20 years.

Also in the front office is assistant GM Dave Lewin.

Dave Lewin is a name I mainly remember from the Globe article about him (Lewin) being a big Juhann Begarin guy coming out of the 2021 draft. Im sure he's got some hits too but thats always what I recall when I hear the name

We lose good people every year.
Congrats AA, may you bring good things to the Jazz! Hope we meet in the finals and we win but you guys put up a good fight! Still love and respect Danny for helping us get 18!

I was “voluntarily” retired a month ago so I’ll get my Resume in.

Big moves even aside, the front office has done a lot right (Pritchard, Hauser, Kornet ...).
Did such moves have a lot to do with Ainge and his team? (Ditto failed draft picks)

B Robb points out with another Ainge going from the Celtics to the Jazz, it opens up all sorts of trade possibilities. For who knows the Celtics personnel better than Austin? And the Jazz are looking to put together a more competitive team. And they were interested in Porzingis and Holiday when they were on the market.
And then there's Brown!
With the NBA punishing the Jazz with bad Lottery Luck the last few seasons, Danny might think it's time to cash in on those Draft Picks and unite Jaylen with Markkannen, rather than be disappointed again...

Austin ahead of Wyc, but the nepo babies are leaving the C's.
Is Brad's kid old enough to intern yet?

Austin must have done really well in the Utah job interview.
