but anyway, Buddy Hield seems like the comp for Chaz Lanier, but Lanier less productive, lesser percentages and not a lottery pick, I guess

Lamar Mundane. Naw, honestly, when I watched his highlights about a month ago, I thought he reminded a little of Dale Ellis (going really old school,) but I can see a little Hield there too. He's not strictly a catch and shoot guy, either. He can take it to the rack some, too. He's got serious range.

I doubt we're going to end up picking at 28 and 32, but if we do, I would feel pretty good walking away with Kalkbrenner and Lanier.

Chaz Lanier, shoots the 3 ball well, not a playmaker, doesn't rebound, weak defensively and going to be a role player specialists. Sounds like another player I know............................. Sam Hauser. This would be a cheaper Sam Hauser replacement.

True but we might already have a Hauser replacement, Scheierman..Peterson could also help fill that void. So we could aim for a different type of player with this pick..

I think Chaz can create/score better than some think. And he can shoot it well for sure. But I just don't see him as a higher Tier over other players at that spot. and a 6'5ish shooting guard is NOT high on my list. Don't overlap a 6'5ish Sheierman. We have BIGGER needs.

Many draft commentators have said the bigmen is the depth of this draft. Possibly up to 12 PF/C will be selected in the top 40: Maluach, CMB, Queen, Beringer, Newell, Sorber, Wolf, Kalkbrenner, Broome, Raynaud, Yang, Zikarsky, Konan-Niederhauser.

So far the Celtics have not worked out any of these guys. I hope Brad takes a good long look at these guys, there's some nice talent in this group. And, for what its worth, I agree the bigs are the value spot of this draft in the 20-45 pick range.

Would love to find a way to move up to get Maluach.


He is also working really hard at developing an outside Jumper with Korver.

I mean, a potential Rudy Gobert level rim protector with the ability to make 35% of his threes???

Agreed. Between Scheierman and Peterson, we have enough 3-pt Shooter/Playmaker/Defense, off the Bench.

I'm not super high on Chaz. I get the shooting but considering age/size/playmaking I think there are other guys I'd prefer. If we trade down, I'd be better with drafting him than I would be at #28 or #32.

Kalkbrenner, I'd be pretty excited to get, but I am starting to think he'll be gone maybe to Atlanta or indy (22/23). But I'd be happy to take the swing if he's there, despite his negatives like footspeed. Getting an elite rim protector at salary slot of a late first round, that'd be great. Also, I was looking at the draft combine results and Ryan Kalkbrenner was 17/23 on side 3pters in the shooting drills. 17 makes was the best of centers by far and only five players made more. Can't put too much stock in a 23 shot sample, but still... we know Brad likes stretch bigs and Kalk has some untapped potential as a shooter, proabbaly

As someone dive bombing into this a few weeks before the draft, give me a handful of prospects to evaluate for the C’s.

I can then make firm decisions as if I’ve been scouting all year…

I don't really see it with him..maybe in the mid to late 2nd round. But when I watch actual game tape, he just doesn't look very good..which is concerning since he's so old..

Ideally, I would prefer a 5 and a PG, but it seems that the PGs I was interested in will be gone/pulled out of the draft. I'm with you. I think Kalkbrenner may well be gone when we select. Ditto Raynaud. But with the moves Brad basically must make, I have no idea where we'll end up picking in the draft. Then again, my present feeling that a 5 and a PG make sense, may no longer make sense after Brad's moves. Bottom line, nobody knows nuthin.

Assuming Peterson sticks around tho?

I haven't researched Lanier. He ranked as the second best shooter at the combine, Celtics brought him in, he's mature in years and physically. Maybe can step into that proverbial Lonnie IV role.

That's about all I got, but i'm intrigued cuz he looks like a seasoned college guy that Brad maybe able to trade back and snag him in the early 40's.

A guy I was big on last year that's kinda not mentioned much this time around is Hunter Sallis. His 3-ball dropped off quite a bit (40% last year, 27% this), but he's solid on D. 6'3.75" barefoot, 6'10" wingspan, good scorer. I'd love to get into the later 2nd round and get a 2-way guard. James, Proctor, Sallis, Small, probably a few others. I'd definitely be talking to their agents about UDFA if any fall completely out.

Any Andrew Nembhards in this draft? He's been super effective as a dribbler penetrator, shot maker, and defensive disruptor.

Another example of why these picks (28/32) can be so valuable if you scout well and hit the right guy.

Bennett Stirtz maybe? Similar attributes and strengths and weaknesses.

Clayton Jr fits the general prototype, but I think he's in a different mold.

I think Stirtz followed his coach to Iowa but was a big fan and I would be super excited about Clayton.
