Minivan! A New England native comes back home! He can knock down a three and get under opponent's skin. That's all I got.

Welcome, and hopefully bye bye soon. Who looks the least like a professional basketball player in the entire nba? It’s this guy. I wonder whose bright idea to bring this guy in.

He has seemed to play well against us on occasion.
I think I kind of like him if we keep him.

What if I don’t want to? In my 20 years on this site I welcomed a lot of guys in green. I feel like I get to not welcome this guy.

Niang ain’t a tank commander. If we trade Brown, Simons can be the tank commander. Niang a decent bench piece. If we were good would love to have him on team. Haha.

Come on man. 4th and 5th best players on team, KP played 45 games and Holiday missed over 20 and is 37.
It is brilliant trade in that we don’t have to give up any talent or picks to get those guys off the team. Now? Trade Hauser and use that cash to resign Horford and Kornet. Kornet, Horford and Quetta the big man rotation. That will suffice for a year.
Simons
White
Brown
?
Horford/Kornet
Can start double bigs, start either Horford or Kornet, and at the 4 go with tatum’s replacement. Either a stretch 4 or double big or a wing scorer.

Lol, that is probably the most myopic take I've seen in years. The overwhelming take is we won the Jrue trade though I actually like it for Portland as well and what the hell were we going to get for KP? He's not a starter, he's a DNP-Injured. Great dude, ton of talent, never healthy, costs a lot. We're under the second apron without giving up any draft capital or really any sweeteners at all. Who pissed in your coffee?

I like Niang as a bench player and he has a magical ability to play more than 75 games a year. I think KP is great when healthy and seems like a great dude but when is he ever healthy? This was insanely good value to get off that contract, I thought for sure we'd be sending out 1st round picks to make that happen.

Also with KP. He is a max 60 game guy. Say KP plays 40 games. Nianges 70. Who is a better value.

I'm not 100% sure I understand your post so I'm going to answer blandly, sorry if I missed your point! I think in our cap situation and with Tatum missing most of the season I'd take Niang at 70 games over KP at 40, in a vacuum I'd be harder pressed to decide. I really enjoyed KP's time here when he played but I wouldn't ever feel safe counting on him to be healthy for the playoffs, especially at his salary.

Are we hoping for a 16th pick in the draft?
Or just going to mail in for a top 10.
Cause that team is in mo mans land.

I give him the Tatum “get the **** outta here” instead
But he might play minutes at the four for us, so: sigh
Once we trade for Giannis imma feel MUCH better about the KP trade

I've never seen sadder welcome threads around here. It's an unpopularity contest between Niang and Simons right now.

I like both.
Simons has talent. He's been an "empty stats" guy, but he's been on a losing team. That sort of thing can change when you move to a real team and mature a bit.
Niang is not important, but the dude cares and plays with fire. We saw that in our regular season battles with Cleveland. I guess people hate him for that, but it's the type of thing where you like it when it's on your team.
Obviously, there's not a ton to celebrate after a couple of salary dumping moves, but they are both good deals given that they are dumps.
