Anyone interested in March madness for draft reasons check out the VCU/BYU game Wed. Demin has been slipping a little but he has freaky physical traits and he's young. But, watch Max Shulga for VCU. Very good size and I hate to always use a similar race to compare players to, but he is very comparable to Donte Divincenzo. UDFA and I think he has the skills to make it to the league in a year or two.
There's also a Russia/Ukraine connection with that game. Shulga is from Kyiv and Demin is from Moscow.

I can get excited about most draft picks but this one isn’t quite doing it for me
Shulga been a contendah
EDIT TO ADD: okay after watching the 7 minute highlight video above, which shows him as excellent in catch and shoot and off screen situations, I’ll say that I can hope for him to become what I hoped James Young would become.

I wanna call him Stella now, but that’s a different movie.

One of these guys just said he loves the fit of Shulga on the Celtics..he says he thinks Shulga could step right in and contribute from day 1..he had him 22nd in this draft class on his personal big board:

To me, he is the most intriguing of the Picks because unlike the other two, he's a really good 3-point shooter. And we know who loves him self some really good 3-point-shooting... And Bill Simmons dad approves...

What level of D does he have a good chance to attain, given some development time?

He is Jerome from Cleveland and might be good in a few years but might not be good for us

Unlike shooters like Chaz Lanier and Koby Brea, Max has some playmaking chops and has some craft to his game when attacking closeouts or getting all the way to the rim.

I’ll check in on him soon. I’m love with Amari atm.
This is like only the second shooter brad has drafted. For as much as people say Brad and Joe love shooters, they don’t really draft them. They actually draft the worse shooters lol.

looks like a shorter Svi. good luck in maine. if he can morph into a passable defender like hauser did he's got a future as a sharpshooter off the bench.

Draft guys did tend to like him, his name would come up in the sort of “best of the rest” type conversations pretty frequently iirc.

In the post apocalyptic dystopian world of the 2025/26 NBA season, there is one man who can unite the disparate Celtics fandom...
And that man is Shulga!
I look forward to Mad Max wreaking vengeance on the disbelievers.

Last time the Celtics had a shooter from Ukraine on the roster they won the title.

Welcome to Maine! Problem is he may not develop any defense in that league. I feel like we got bizarro Gonzales here. If we combined skills, we'd have a potential all star.

Plenty of shooters like Sam Hauser and Duncan Robinson spent basically their entire rookie season in the G-League getting used to the longer line and the speed of the pro game. Didn't stop them from getting their defense to a level where they are playable in the NBA so if Shulga can't figure it out I think it's his issue more so than his environment's.
