This move must be because Brad knows Kornet is gone.
Luka can rebounds and shoot 3s.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Luka Garza!
Tough for Garza or anybody really to find minutes on a front court with Gobert, Reid and KAT/Randle. I can see the vision of buying low and seeing if he can flourish with more opportunities (similar to Bitadze after leaving the Sabonis/Turner duo). But considering how little he proved to this point in the NBA, I'm not sure why there is a second guaranteed year on that deal unless it's a team option.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Luka Garza!
Been vaguely aware of this guy for a bit. Looks like he can score inside but folks will be happy to know he sucks shot blocking and on the glass.
Team really going offense this year.

Luka Garza would be an interesting addition. Minny seems to have buried him on the depth chart. 6'11, 25 and not a terrible 3pt shooter.
Would Minny want Maine points leader JD to back-up Conley??

Didn't even have to trade the fan favorite JD

Re: Welcome to Boston, Luka Garza!
White / Pritchard / Davison
Simons / Gonzalez
Brown / Scheierman / Walsh
Hauser / Niang / (Tatum)
Queta / Garza / Tillman
The 2nd rounders and presumably Peterson on the two ways.
Above the tax but below 2nd apron team. Need to shed about $18M to duck the tax if they go that route. Can get there by by dumping Hauser and Niang but would take mid season maneuvering with pro rated players taking the spots of guys sent packing because filling out the spots take you over. Obviously can save money to duck the tax with a Simons trade instead of or in addition to Niang/Hauser depending on finals calcs.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Luka Garza!
For people that are into that sort of things, at the 2021 combine, Garza measured 6'10'' without shoes, 7'1.5'' wingspan, 8'11.5'' standing reach and 243 pounds. He was also a two time first team all american and the best player in all of college basketball his senior season in Iowa so he clearly has a bit a of offensive skill.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Luka Garza!
Garza played only 63 minutes with Ant Edwards last year but in those minutes the pairing was a +13.0 net rating
Garxa's best 2 man pairing was with Nazr Reid (again limited min, only 47 min) but was a net +28 rating
I like it. Garza isn't a rim protector but his career so far, he's been buried behind a lot of bigs, maybe he's got a little more game than he's been able to show. I didn't even consider Luka Garza as a player we might sign, but I do like the signing

Basically Enes Kanter who can hit the occasional 3.
For the minimum, not much to complain about. Very different player from Luke but does a couple things better.

From a Wolves fan on the T&T board.
"He was a fan favorite. Will bust his @$$. Tries hard on D. If he passes the ball it probably slipped."

Himmelsbach:
The Celtics acted swiftly following Kornet’s decision, agreeing to a two-year, $5.5 million deal with former Timberwolves center Luka Garza, according to a league source.
Garza, 26, has appeared in just 124 games over four NBA seasons, averaging 4.9 points and two rebounds. He is a skilled offensive player close to the basket, but has yet to display a consistent 3-point shot and has defensive weaknesses.
