25.5 is old for a 2-way. But you never know..maybe the team sees something in him.

The sell with Harper:
-Not a terrible shooter..can kind of shoot
-Can defend multiple positions
-High feel, high IQ, knows how to play..partly because his dad is Ron Harper and his mom is also a HS basketball coach in New Jersey
-Can dribble/pass/shoot, defend, rebound. Doesn't do any of them at an elite level but is competent at all of them
-Has decent positional size..about 6'5"/6'6" with a 7'1" wingspan
-Has some strength, toughness..but also looks like he dropped at least like 20 lbs since last season because part of the knock on him used to be he was too heavy..like he was this 6'5", 245 lbs wing so he needed to drop some weight..well it looks like he did

There's obviously a chance that all he ever does is play in Maine and maybe a few Boston games in garbage time. But a player like this who has some NBA experience already, has been around, has dropped some weight and has a couple years now being around our org..has some size, skill and feel, it wouldn't be the craziest thing if he ends up being a contributor for the big club eventually.

But more likely just a guy for Maine and garbage time in Boston..

Ron Jr. shot the three great for Maine last season before moving to the Pistons organization.

I don't see that happening. That would result in us being at only 13 guys on the standard roster. The minimum is 14.

What are we gonna do, waive Walsh and give his roster spot to Wendell Moore? That wouldn't make any sense, considering Walsh was higher up in the rotation than Moore all preseason. That would also mean Moore is leapfrogging over Shulga and Amari Williams since those guys being on 2-ways would be higher on the pecking order than Moore (an exhibit 10 guy)..Shulga barely played in preseason and did nothing in preseason or summer league..no way he is getting promoted from his 2-way already..Amari didn't play much in preseason either..

Walsh is young, only 21..entering his 3rd season, has shown promising flashes during his first 2 seasons, was good in summer league for us this season..and is barely making any money. I'd be very surprised if we waived him.

Only guy who might get waived at this point is Shulga and that seems unlikely...but somewhat possible we might waive him and give that 2-way slot to Moore or Bridges..

Harper Jr seems likes he's kicked around awhile and not really made much of a dent. In the moments I've seen him, he has never really stood out.

I think Brad values continuity, and the roster has already undergone heavy changes, so he might like Harper's familiarity with the team, coaches, players, Portland, etc

It's not a needle mover for me. If Harper can become more of a PG, maybe this could payoff down the road, but I'm not expecting much. Interesting, that Brad didn't hold his powder dry and see who gets cut around the league, but it's also the 3rd two way, so whatevs, lol

He did pretty good on the Maine Celtics, for the time that he spent there.
He was an Exhibit 10 for us last year, and then an Affiliate, before he got Pouched.

I'd like to see him stay in that Two-Way this year. This is his last year of eligibility.

-Part of the reason why he hasn't made much of a dent so far was a pretty serious shoulder injury he had which caused him to miss quite a bit of time.

-I wouldn't count on him playing PG..would just call him a "wing"..at least before he dropped (what looks like) around 20 lbs, I would have said he is closer to a PF than a PG..but since he dropped the weight and brought the ball up the floor for us a few times in preseason, I'd call him a wing with perhaps some secondary ball handling capability and probably too small at this point to play the 4.

But I think he could defend 4's here and there, like if we are switching..he's a pretty switchable defender. That was the biggest selling point for him as a prospect coming out of college.

-Out of our 2-ways, I think Shulga is the one who is more of a PG..

-Yeah, the continuity, familiarity with the team, with Portland and stuff seems like it may have played a role here.

And we interviewed Flagg at the combine, right? Plus he's from Maine.

Brad planting some seeds to eventually have a shot at perhaps acquiring Harper and/or Flagg down the road
