JB Blazes But Celts Veer Off The Trail! Loss vs POR 12/28

Post#1 » by bisme37 » Mon Dec 29, 2025 1:31 am

Well poop you guys that turned out to be a tough big game and we did not win it!

Jaylen Brown passed Sharman for 12th and the Celtics all-time scoring list and tied Larry with a franchise record 9th straight 30+ point game, and Hugo was terrific. But Clingan and the Blazers controlled the boards, the C's shot poorly from 3 and had some goofy turnovers late, and it was one of those midseason road games where we just didn't quite have it as a group. Close but no cigar!

Jazz Tuesday, Go C's!

(Jazz somehow beat Pistons and Spurs in the last 3 days so we gotta come to play)

really weirdly coached game... going small with Hugo at center, trying to box out Donovan Clingan.. and just so many bad shots tonight...
JB seemed really ball hoggy tonight, only 4 assists against 23 FGA and 10 FTAs

onto the next one!

This is where the Cs really miss Jayson Tatum.

DWhite is really shaky when setting up the offense in late game situations.

Same thing happened when we lost that game in Philly last month.

JT is still the man when it comes to running the offense.

Tough loss, Celtics didn’t execute down the stretch. Celtics not going to win every game.

Not placing blame, if PP, Hauser, Simons and DWhite go a combined 13 for 42 for 31% the Celtics are not going to win. They rely on those 4 guys plus JB for the majority of their points.

Chalk up this loss to another night of cold shooting

Not to mention 5 turnovers.

Just an off night for the team as a whole.

Simply didn’t have enough outside of Jaylen and the last few mins were simply horrific in terms of offensive execution

That's why Brad needs to get another Center.

Blame the guy that did something versus the 4 guys PP, DWhite, Simons and Hauser that slept walked through the whole game?

That's why you don't get early bozo Fouls.
Queta & Garza both had 5, and then Brown gets his 5th.

It really limits what plays the Coaches can call.

23 FGA when we’ve had guys taking 23, with a more offensively talented team, is a lot? The team was butt out there. He should have taken 40! The turnovers were terrible can’t say too much in defense. Of course he had 4, but he’s going to get credited because he didn’t save one.

not blaming JB, but both he and White had a lot of dribble over halfcourt and it's My Turn possessions tonight... it's more a Mazzulla Ball approach where no pass possessions are favored because the coaches seem to equate passing the rock with turning it over and so on games like this 45 3pta vs 19 assists, just a few plays on the margin determine the outcome... i know Queta had 5 fouls but there's only 2 or 3 minutes left in the game and he's on the bench?? Clingan powering Hugo out of the way for the o-reb, score and one was the play of the game, I was like, "why is Queta not in the game?"

Poorly Played. Particularly letting the Trail Blazers go on a 12-2 Run.
Foul Trade. -- I mentioned it a few times in the Game Thread.

There's really no excuse for that type of play.
Hugo played 30 mins, and only got 2 Fouls. IJS

Joe needs to play X when he see Q and Garza struggling! He could have tried a mix and match. Minott, HELLO JOE?!!

Another game where we earn a loss by getting into a pissing match with an inferior team on their court. Scal's congratulating the Blazers head coach for settling his team down. Crickets for Joe. One of White's worst games in the last three years.

Unbearable to watch.

White was bad shooting-wise but was sensational defensively along with Hugo. Would have liked to see Joe go big and take Pritchard out down the stretch with Walsh instead. Sans Brown, nobody was in sync offensively so not a really surprising end with the Brown/White miscommunications. The Blazers were smart to let JB get his and hope he cooled off which kept them out of rotation and clean looks for White/Pritchard. We are terrible passing team so when the shot making isn't working, it's ugly and the offense looks out of sorts. For all the love Queta and Walsh get, they are very limited offensively and clog up the offense. Not rocket science but that's reality when you lose an elite 6'8" playmaker and great passing bigs. That's why they need to trade for a better all around big who can open up all the offense a little bit.

Exactly. -- The ship was going down, and Tillman & Minott don't get into the 2nd Half.
Badly Coached.

Either way, we need another Player for other Teams to target.

Once it’s clear cling was dominating the two bigs to tried, try one that’s fresh!! I’m not sure what Joe don’t like about X, but if nothing else, he can defend. TRY HIM!

Walsh needed more minutes if you weren’t going to use Minott, fouls or not! You have 6 for a reason!
