Celts Hit Right Note In The 4th, Outplay The Jazz! Victory Cigar vs UTA 12/30

Post#1 » by bisme37 » Yesterday 4:22 am

Hey cool you guys that was kinda sketchy but we outlasted the pesky Jazz and won the big game hooray!

Derrick White!! Payton Pritchard! Luka Garza! Anfernee Simons! And Jaylen Brown's 30pt streak ended, but he had a bunch of nice assists tonight and hit some big buckets down the stretch!

Celts starters were weird in the first half and Garzilla and the bench really saved our butts. Thankfully DWhite (7 blocks!), PP, JB and Simons hit huge shots in the 4th and we got out of there with a win!

Have a fun New Year's Eve, you guys! Kings Thursday, Go C's!

Useless thoughts:
- Everybody knows when Pritchard's stepback is coming, but no one can stop it.
- I think we won the Derrick White trade.

Great 2nd half by D. White!
Seems like Queta is an extended slump on the boards -- 3reb tonight... -5 overall in the game, how do we get Neemi back on track?

Awesome team win, tons of guys contributing. These VC and CP’s are hard but I’m not complaining. Hope they are hard every game from now on.

I went with DWhite for VC with a great all around game. I’m going with JB for his 23 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. More importantly JB gave up the 30 points Celtics record for a win.

Simons, Garza, Queta and Pritchard all had excellent games.

Edit: Walsh played some good defense on George to start the 3rd quarter

This Celtics team is fun. Let’s keep it rolling!!! Let’s Go Celtics!!!!!!

Walsh back to G League level and Minott can't get any burn? Is he part of a pending trade or did he do something to Joe lol. Doesn't make much sense.

Tougher than expected until Q4. I warned everyone back in November that the Jazz could sweep. Nurkic's and Markkanen's size were problems, along with the Utah guards athleticism and quickness (and Keyonte George's shooting). The Celtics won this game because 3 key Utah players were not shooting well (Markkanen, Sensabaugh and Filipkowski). It helped that Derrick White was phenomenal. So was Luka Garza in only 19 minutes of action.

An Alternative Perspective:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed Field Goals - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+31 Derrick White 36 minutes

+22.5 Jaylen Brown 34 minutes
+19 Luka Garza 19 minutes

+18.5 Payton Pritchard 36 minutes
+18 Anfernee Simons 28 minutes
+14.5 Neemias Queta 29 minutes

+5.5 Jordan Walsh 13 minutes
+5 Hugo Gonzalez 17 minutes
+3.5 Sam Hauser 16 minutes

-1.5 Baylor Scheierman 11 minutes

Team Total = 136

Most will probably vote for White and I can’t argue that but I’m throwing a vote to the oft-maligned Simons. 20/5/4 and he lead the team BY FAR in plus/minus. Good game for Anfernee.

Well he got banned so I don’t think we’ll be seeing any anti-Joe comments

Despite being 7 feet Queta is just outmuscled underneath by Nurkic and 2 days ago Clingan.

By the way, watching Nurkic play defense tonight please no one bring him up in the trade thread. Celtics might not have won if Nurkic didn’t play

Nice win.

VC to White and Brown.

White was great. 27 points on 8-16 shooting, a career high 7 blocks, to go with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Brown with a really good game. 23 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. I loved how he got everyone involved.

Pritchard with a good game as well. 18 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

Simons was huge off the bench, scoring 20 and grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. Really good all around game for him.

Garza also had a good game with 15 and 6 and a career high 8 points in the 1st quarter. He got a lot of guys open shots with his
great screen setting.

Nice coaching job by Joe.

While I believe he should be playing anyway, it does make sense that he isn’t. I think it’s because he’s not going to get center minutes because of Garza. Walsh, Hugo, Rico and Sam are getting the few SG minutes JB is out and all the forward minutes.
NAME ON THE FRONT OF THE JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(!)

Hugo is just better.

Not enough minutes for the SFs and PFs, like Walsh and Mynot, because Joe is playing Hauser and Baylor more.

Queta has been outmatched the last 2 games for sure. He might be hitting some type of wall. He isn't used to playing this much. His rebounding and defense in the paint have been bad. He is out of position and getting bounced off his space in the paint.

He's not physical enough nor athletic enough nor skilled enough to avoid being outplayed on a regular basis. Pretty much the definition of a replacement level player. Useful, but limited.
