I just don't see what he could offer us besides a veteran leadership.

If he wants it that bad, then i'm willing to bring him aboard.
Payton is a legend.
And if you thought Garnett was competitive...

Yeah, you gotta have people who really want it. Payton also said he doesn't care about money or playing time.

I'm sure Payton can still get the ball over half-court reliably. For cheap, I wouldn't be against this at all.

can payton guard billups better than anyone we have on the roster now? if so, then DO IT! if not, then dont waste the roster spot. we should focus on finding someone who cand D up billups for the playoffs.

There is no risk to this move and if it means I will never have to see Tony Allen bring the ball up, I am all for it.

If he's motivated, he'll be better than you'd fear. So do it.

with ray allen wearing 20 what number would GP wear?

I've been in favor of getting GP for a while.

I'd love GP back on the C's...
We need his ball handling and smarts...
Plus, I bet he can still chase the Rip Hamiltons of the world around....
But as Reagan said, trust, but verify.
Ainge should work him out before offering him a contract.

I'm not in favor, unless someone is injured, or GP is not expecting to play much. And even then, I'd rather check up on Earl Boykins. He's tiny but he has skills and is much more capable than GP currently is.

I would like to see GP wear #4 so he can look at Billups like he sees the mirror.

If there is noone better outthere at the end of the season then we can sign him, now it makes no sense. Let`s be patient and just wait and see if another vet PG becomes available...

Well, teams can sign players to a 10 day now. Maybe have him come in and see what he can do.

Exactly. When Rondo is out, Tony Allen and Eddie House are kind of shaky. I think for 10 minutes a game Payton would help. He is also a smart player and still has HOF talent. Now, he is done. But, we aren't asking him to be an all-star, or even a starter.
