Mbenga?

Warriors waived him, looks like they will bring Perovic in.
So, I think he's a decent pick-up as third string behind Perk and Pollard to add some legit 7' height in case of foul trouble. He seems like a solid guy, too.

There are better players out there. Pass.

Actually I like the idea of signing him, if Perkins goes down we need insurance DJ Mbenga has potential, he is not a good player yet but he has the tools to be one and we have clifford ray. Not only that he also provides another 7 footer in practice for baby and perk to practice against to get better and one with actual quickness. I would sign him we still have 2 open roster spots if a PG comes free we can sign him still and if another player also comes free we just cut DJ.
Honestly I think his top end is alot higher then Powe's so if Perk or Pollard gets hurt I would not mind seeing DJ in part time to help out against the dwight howards of the world.

i would sign him up. a banger who is quicker than pollard. he can toughen up our big men rotation especially against guys like howard and Yao. He was also in a good winning program in dallas.

I don't know if his 'po' is higher than Powe's, but that was also my thought that he gives foul insurance against D Howard, etc. DJ could keep KG from logging too many mins at C.
He doesn't solve the PG situation., but we have 2 spots. I think Mbenga or Birdman would be a decent addition for front court help.

I think Ainge is waiting for The Birdman. We didn't sign Mbenga when he was waived by the Mavericks, so what's the point signing him now?

The Celtics were interested in Mbenga but he signed with Golden State. If they sign him it will probably be for a 10 day contract. I doubt they have any interest in Birdman.

Knee injury last Feb, I think. He's been working his way back like TA.
Hey, he's a mobile 7 foot guy, no Hakeem Olajawon, but good for back up minutes. Give him a 10 day contract and see how he works with this team.

I can't figure out why some people on this board keep bringing this guy up. He's a waste of space. Brings nothing to the table what-so-ever

I'm indifferent to MBenga. Don Nelson was high on him when he was in Dallas, high enough on him to ditch Lasme and have him signed in Golden State. He was even high enough on the guy to give him minutes...he doesn't like giving minutes to bigs he doesn't like.
At the same time I gather he sucked enough that they let him go.
But at the same time supposedly he's not completely healed yet.
I see both sides.

for a third string center? all he has to do is waste space. sign him cheap and get him to body up people in foul trouble situations and foul. that's all he really has to do.
