OT: Marcus Banks WTF?

1: When did he crack Pheonix's lineup?
2: When did he have permission to attempt 8 3PT FG attempts?
3: When did he develop the stroke to hit 7 of them?

Will he ever be a player in this league? What was up wityh his performance last night. Looking at his stat line and his 23 points... judging by the 0 assists it looks like he still has no clue how to run an NBA offense.

Is he their backup point after nash/barbosa? i'm guessing he usually doesn't get this many minutes... unless the suns score 78 in a half... oh wait they did

Stop hatin. Banks can score my friends. This the same thing they said after he ripped apart one game in the SL. Barbosa has almost the same role as he does so that prevents him from getting enough minutes.

On the Suns board though - supposedly he is back in the rotation.

1.1 assists per game.
and his assists are actually down during this 5 game scoring surge.

umm.. you want this point guard?

I don't think anyone in this thread has even remotely hinted they want anything to do with marcus banks now or in the future.

In theory, as long as he doesn't over-handle the ball, and you have a taller point beside him, I can see a scenario where a 6'0 shooting guard works. The stars would all have to align, however.

You going to keep tabs on Guillermo Diaz now that he's back in the L? I maintain a smidgeon of curiosity about how he'll do.

ha. yeah im actually really curious. he only signed a 10 day, so who knows. but i think he will stick til the end of the season.

man i kinda stunk of that draft. my sleepers were diaz and taj gray. with a little research, gray is averaging 16 and 9 in i believe paris. probably nba hopes are slim, but paris is a terrific city, so best of luck to him.

Can you imagine if he was still here dribbling the shot clock down to 5 seconds with Pierce, KG and Allen standing around watching...... thank god he is gone.

I recall bringing Diaz up one time simply to bust your chops, but he was one of the guys I had on my list of draft possibles. Actually I was fairly high on Taj too, but my big miss was his teammate, Terrell Everett. Though, by the time he bombed in his senior season, I was off the bandwagon.

marcus does this every 40 games or so. It's a shame because like Gerald he has all the physical skills to be great at his position but he doesn't have the head and pouts too much. Danny rarely misses in terms of evaluating talent. HIs missess ( Banks and Gerald) have come in the personality area

I actually think Marcus is just a classic slow developing point guard. He came into the league thinking he knew more than he did. He got moved a few times, sat on the bench, got humbled, and now he's figuring things out.

He's very talented and is starting to produce. I don't think it's a fluke, but instead it's a breakthrough.

Banks is fine. His numbers post Celtics at Minnesota were excellent. The issue is (and you would learn this if you read the Suns board) that Mike D'Antoni runs a small rotation and he just can't break it. They have Barbosa who plays the exact same role as Banks for the most part.

They have several other guards who could contribute on an NBA level as well like Strawberry and Tucker. Don't confuse minutes with ability - ask Gerald Green.

Any NBA player can rack up some numbers if given burn. That's why they are in the NBA. Powe would probably average 8 and 8 if give 30 minutes a night for example.

Good for Banks. He is still sticking around in the league and IMO is a better player than Telfair.
