1) Big Baby
An NBA record was set Saturday night: Never before have so many people simultaneously pointed at their TVs and screamed the word "Baby!"
Taking a page from the Kendrick Perkins We-Shall-Not-Be-Moved school of defense, Glen Davis stymied Rasheed Wallace on one end of the floor while decimating the Pistons on the offensive side. With seven all stars sharing the court it was rookie Davis who stole the evening. His fast feet (also known as baby steps), superb hands and great use of bulk stunned the Pistons.
Time and again Paul Pierce drove the lane and dished to the rookie. Detroit, not believing what they were seeing, made no adjustments, continuing to over-cover the big three while leaving Glen Davis free to position himself under the basket.
The beautiful thing is: let the Pistons adjust. Next time the teams play they'll pay full attention to Big Baby, and when they do Garnett or Pierce or Allen will be left in single coverage.
Now it's Detroit that's uncertain.
2) Best Western
Which leads to this: I'm getting weary of hearing about how the Celtics haven't played the Suns, Mavs or Spurs. The Celtics are playing basketball on a level seen once every hoops epoch. The Spurs are a four time champion. They've earned the respect of being considered the ultimate test

Good Points. Especially #2.
I think the dallas and phoenix game would be a test because of the firepower that they can match with us. However, they really haven't won a ring. We are taking the same path that they went through in the last several seasons in terms of great winning percentages in the 1st half of the season, and our record is even better than theirs in those times, but they always fell short. This is a good match-up but not really a test that is tantamount to what SAS and Detroit would present to us.

Regardless, Ray Allen was a great throw-in in the Glen Davis trade.
it's funny now, but in 3 years this could be exactly what people are saying!

because he's articulate, interesting, funny, and knowledgeable. I think that pretty much disqualifies him.

I enjoyed this as all of your stuff!
I liked the point about the Mavs and the Suns having to prove themselves against us. And the point about Tommy, in particular.
But as always...you're witty and this is so well written.
Kudos.

Well done, but you could have filled that post with a review of P.S. I Love You and it still would've been great because of the title. You need to copyright "grenvy", because I think it's gonna take off. I plan on using it in my everyday vocabulary now, and if anyone doesn't like it, they're just grenvious.

Nice work. Small Quibble. I think Greenvy sounds alittle better and is more easily identifiable with the celtics than Grenvy. Just the wannabe editor in me talking.

I just got back in after defeating wild roses outside my place. Those prickly SOBs are worse than the Pistons. It was like the second Lord Of The Rings movie- a giant grim battle with thousands of armed enemies surrounding the few. But I prevailed.
What? Where am I? Oh yeah- Thanks for the kind words! This is a fun season, isn't it?
The grenvy of our foes only makes us stronger.

summed up my thoughts on TA exactly. Every time he has the ball and is being a "pg" i'm afraid of what he'll do, and i'm sure the other team feels the same.
besids powe who can't count because of limited time that obsures the n#'s, TA leads the team in turnovers per min with 4.1 per 48.
but he leads the team in steals per min as well, at 2.67 per 48.
rondo .07 behind with half as many to's.
