Draft Kenny George

Post#1 » by Celtics_History_Lesson » Thu Jan 10, 2008 2:49 am

The center for North Carolina-Asheville, Kenny George, he might be able to add some size in the middle.

Not a bad choice at pick 30. Would have to be a better player than George Kenny or Tony Allen.

I was reading the article about him in the NYTimes today. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/09/sports/ncaabasketball/09asheville.html?em&ex=1200114000&en=5d4198a615bce0f2&ei=5087%0A The dude's 7 feet 9 inches tall in shoes and weighs 360 pounds? Holy moly. Wouldn't mind Ainge burning the 30th pick on the guy, just to see this guy in person.

Look at the vid at the bottem of the page. He dunks without leaving his feet. He is gigantic.

Is he really slower than Muresan or Yao? In the video, he looks fairly nimble considering his ridiculous size. He also seems like a good kid, based on the NY Times article.

Watch how long it takes him to run the court.

If his health is relatively reasonable (meaning he can play at least through the Paul/KG era), I'd trade up to nab him in the second round. Give the guy a year with Clifford Ray and Garnett to mentor him on the block, and it would be a great story. Don't underestimate the Celtics' strength and conditioning staff; they'd never make the guy fast, but they could get him over halfcourt.

I say draft him if only so that he can tackle Lamar Odom next year.

I'd pay $100 to see him eat Nate Robinson

This guy will never be fast enough to play in the NBA.

What number in the draft would you select Shawn Bradley? Exactly.

Haha, ESPN timed him last night and it took him 9 seconds to get from the defensive end of the court (after a blocked shot I believe) to the offensive end where his team was already running their set.

Kenny George would make Big Baby look like Lil'Baby. I would draft him at 59/60, but not at 29/30. Shoe size 26? Are you kidding me? Shaq would be Big Baby next to him!
