Mild mannered Mike Gorman gets very little attention as the partner of the bombastic Tommy Heinsohn on the Celtics television broadcasts on Comcast SportsNet , but if any one thinks his low key delivery reflects a lack of enthusiasm for the team or the game; I am telling you, there are very few fans who share his passion.

Do you remember draft night? The Allen trade? Well, we were into the sixth (and final....we thought) hour of our marathon web cast, when Mike called in, a few minutes before midnight, as he was leaving the garden.

50 minutes later, his cell phone died in mid sentence, and we were left with mouths agape, after listening to him; pretty much non stop, evaluating the night's activities.

We are certainly not the only ones to appreciate Mike's eloquence and candor,.

Is there a more underrated play-by-play announcer in any sport, locally or on the national scene, than the Celtics' Mike Gorman? His unassuming style makes it very easy to take him for granted, but he's a total pro, has great pipes and an unobtrusive catchphrase or two ("Pierce . . . count it!"), and gets extra credit for keeping Heinsohn from mauling an official all these years.

Our other guest, Scott Souza is fast making a name for himself as one of the most conscientious reporters on the scene.

His blogging, game reports and features, under the byline; "Courtside View, " have put the "Metro West Daily News " on the map for discerning Celtics fans.

Here is an excerpt from a Jan.5th feature...
"Are you kidding me?" Ainge said. "It's difficult to get owners, players and coaches on the same page any time. When things aren't going well, it is the most difficult. Even winning organizations are disjointed, never mind losing ones.

"There were heated days," he verified, "when we were involved with it there were times when people in the organization felt like we were right back in the beginning...
