Celtics 13-0 when Glen Davis plays 12+ Minutes...

Post#1 » by Infinite Llamas » Sun Jan 13, 2008 11:01 pm

Seriously, and sure, some of those 13 games might of been blowouts when he played the entire fourth, but all signs point to Davis playing more minutes (just for the record, they're 4-24 when he plays under 12 minutes). We probably would of lost the Nets game without his hustle in the fourth the other night. How much more does this guy have to prove to get more minutes? He's easily our best finisher around the rim and for an undersized center, he's a pretty reliable defender. I know that this isn't some grand miracle that put this team back on the right track (not that they're on the worst of tracks to begin with), but it's definitely something they should consider.

some MIGHT have been?

We've probuly won 10 games by 15+ points this season.

Just make arguments for him outside of silly stats.

Personally I hope he brings himself down to 280 [oh noes not a Centers weight] and we get another Center next year and he can play PF for the team.

Celtics 104 Knicks 59
Glen Davis 30:53 minutes

Celtics 112 Raptors 84
17:31 minutes

Celtics 90 Kings 78
(starting) 26:49 minutes

Celtics 104 Bucks 82
18:58 mintues

Celtics 90 Raptors 77
17:12 minutes

Celtics 107 Bulls 82
18:25 minutes

..not saying he doesn't deserve more time but there are 6 games where they won by a large margin and he played 12+ minutes.

When a team is 30-5, you can make a case like this one for every single player.

Celtics are 30-5 when KG and Pierce play at least 5 minutes together.

The Celts are 14-0 when Leon Powe takes his warmup T-shirt off and plays. I think we need to start playing Leon Powe more, or at the very least, have him not wear his warm up shirt while on the bench.

Those stats don't mean such. But Davis was our best player in Detroit. He was the reason we won in Detroit. I would like to see him play about 20 minutes a night on a regular basis.

c'mon, Paul was by far our best player in Detroit. Davis just made some layups. It's good because it was an unexpected contribution that was the difference in the game. But let's not forget Paul made most of those passes. Paul had a great game.

Davis is still inconsistent. He was great in Det, terrible against washington. that's a rookie for you. like most young players, it's not about the talent, it's about consistency. he'll get there, but it's a mistake to force-feed him minutes. he still has to earn them each moment he's on the court.

The Celtics are 15-0 when I fart on Tuesday mornings. They are 12-0 when I have coffee at 9:30 AM on Fridays... etc etc

They are 30-5 which means you can say anything about any stat and will be a nice win record!
Formula to win in NBA
1 All star gets you 6-9th seed in conf, 1rst round playoff loss
2 All stars gets you to second round of playoffs
3 All stars gets you to Finals /Champs

I agree with the Bench ( including Big Baby ) should be getting more minutes but in the right situation. Baby is getting those minutes when the C's are up by 10? I'd have to look at it closer to detrimine that.

Looking at this stat reminds me of a Scott Hatteberg/Jim Rice story Ive read.

Jim Rice was all over Scott Hatteberg because Scott hit about 400 when swinging at the first pitch. Rice thought Hatteberg was selfish not swinging at all the first pitch strikes.

Scott Hatteberg's point was he hit 400 because the pitcher threw into the zone he was looking for a pitch in, making his averge so high. If Hatteberg just swung at every first picth regardless of location, he felt his average would go down.

I feel Davis is like this scenario, Doc puts Davis in when the Match up is correct ( like the pitch being in the right zone ) which maximizes Big Baby talents. If Doc throw Davis out there for 12 minutes, regardless of the match up, Davis's effectiverness would decrease and the C's winning percentage with him out there would decrease also.

Well he's our second best offensive big and our third best defensive big, so he really should be getting more time.

And is anyone else expecting Pruitt to be this year's rookie that saw no time at the begininng of the season and then looked awesome when he finally played joining Big Al, Ryan Gomes, and Rajon Rondo.
