Everyone CALM DOWN!

Post#1 » by ddb » Tue Jan 15, 2008 4:10 pm

There comes a time or two in every great teams season where nothing seems to go right. the coaching is bad, the stars aren't playing like stars, the calls aren't going your way, and the momentum seems to fade away.

And these are the moments that will determine what kind of team you are...The WORST thing the Celtics could do right now is panic and make changes. The same weaknesses that we ALL pointed out are the same weaknesses that Danny Ainge will address when the time is right. Panic moves do NOT win you championships.

Working for the Spurs, I can recall 3 or 4 times last season when my co-workers 100% counted the Spurs out of contention because of a bad loss or two. It doesn't matter. The regular season isn't the same for good teams as it is for bad teams. For the Celtics we only have to worry about 3 things..

1) Playoff Seed
2) Momentum heading into the playoffs
3) Health

Does it really matter if we're the #1 seed at 70-12 or the #1 seed at 60-22? No. Who cares about these losses. If anything Doc and his players are learning from these losses. It's better to get this out of the system now then in round 2 of the playoffs.

The Spurs went through these tough times. The Red Sox went through these tough times. The Patriots..........haha, okay maybe the Pats haven't, but most championship teams go through rough patches.

I say don't worry about it. We're 30-6. Danny will bring in another veteran or two to help out. Just be patient.

I'm with Particleman on this one. Please stop being so rational. There's no need for that type of intelligent thinking around here.

Only on the Celtics board do we need a post telling people to calm down because we're 30-6.

bump

95-96 Bulls lost back to back games to a 35-47 nuggets team and a 41-41 suns squad. this ain't a big deal, I love this team lets not change anything.

we just need better PG play., Ray allen's struggles are directly related to that in my opinion. rondo is a nice prospect and a keeper, but if we are going to be championship level the play is going to have to be more consistent, and much better.

I think you may be onto something there. Still, let's not forget Ray Allen is recovering from a pinched nerve (ouch!). Also, he's not just a spot-up shooter: he's used to having the ball in his hands and creating for himself and others... which means that he's not necessarily too PG-dependent.
