Whoops! Sorry, my eyes saw Arroyo but my brain thought Calderon.

No, I would not do that. But yes to Calderon. Guess that's more obvious.

He would certainly fill the bill offensively but were is he at defensively? That is the thing with giving up Tony, whatever his flaws he is a hell of a man defender at either guard position. I like Arroyo though, he has had his bumps but he is a nice player.

No thank you.

Arroyo couldn't defend my sister. He can get hot offensively and I would love to have someone like him come off the bench but Tony is much more valuable to us - and he's only getting better.

1. Carlos Arroyo will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, just like Chris Duhon,
Tyronn Lue and Beno Udrich.

So, the Celts might be able to sign one of them, using the MLE, if they don't try to sign
Kurt Thomas, Brian Skinner or Jake Voskuhl first.

2. Carlos make $4 million, Tony Allen makes $1.86 million. Need to add Scal to Tony's contract to make the trade work. No, I wouldn't trade Tony and Scal for someone that the Celts could sign this summer if he wanted to come here. But you might be surprised to find Arroyo getting close to the full MLE.

Tony's more likely to help us then Aroyoyo and that's knowing our ballhandling weakness

Tony will be a key component for this team come March, he's already showing more promise in January than he did in December which was better than November. No time to panic, Danny will come up with a suitable veteran point for the stretch run without giving up key players on the team.

I dont know if Orlando would do it but I would. TA has very little value to other teams around the league. The only reason he is getting pt I believe is for trade bait.

What sense does that make? Why wouldn't you trade Tony and Scal for ending contract of a guard who could actually help the team. That would free up enough salary to throw the full mle at some this offseason.

To me it is simply about defense how do you match up against big time guards without Tony.

I'd only want to consider deals like these if we thought Rondo was going to be out for significant amounts of time. Tony is way too valuable defensively to give away. In other words, I'd rather lose a couple of games in the short tem b/c rondo wasn't able to go and our ball handling was bad and keep Tony given the likelihood that we are going to meet some team with guards only he can guard in the playoffs.

Not advocating it at all, but from a CBA perspective,

Scal + Pruitt for Arroyo works.

And the Celtics get to keep Tony Allen for his defense and opportunistic plays.

But if Pruitt settles down, he might turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

This is a tough call.If Tony ever gets 100 percent again it's a bad move.Celts alos don't have anyone else on the roster that is like Tony Allen.

But, they desperately need a PG. They need some quality on the guard position off the bench.
