People, I've read a lot of posts where you are freaking out, dumping on the coaches, the team, the players. Read the ten easy to follow statements below and be calm.
1. The Celtics will win the Atlantic Division.
2. The Celtics have a solid chance of defeating any team in the Eastern Conference in a seven game series.
3. The Celtics would be even money, if not the favored team, against any team in the west right now for a seven game series.
4. All the pressure in EVERY GAME is on the C's right now. Other teams are expected to lose the games, and thus play carefree, energetic basketball. They have no pressure and no expectation to win. In the playoffs, across 7 games, this will not be the case.
5. The C's have been dinnged up lately, changing rotation and limiting the minutes of the starters. This may result in a few losses, but it will pay playoff dividends by way of healthy starters and experienced bench players.
6. The Celtics players are adjusting to winning. It sounds strange, but none of these guys have been the target before this year. There is a psycological transition that takes place between being a hot-starting team and a consistant winner. They are making the transition fairly well, but their inconsistancy is a symptom of this mental hurdle.
7. Rivers is a solid coach trying desperatly to be a great coach, and he's doing an admirable job of holding together a team and planning for the long grind of the season plus the playoffs. Even if the C's were to sweep the playoffs, there would be 98 games in the year, and he is trying to manage as such. Each game counts, but he is trying to teach and run different roups through differnt situations.
8. The brand of basketball we get to watch is energetic, hustle oriented, workman like, defense orinetd, and has flash and flair and excitement and personality. There are VERY few other teams that can say all of those things. ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS.
9. Any roster moves that are made should be in the free agent market. No trades. Everyone is contributing and knows thier roles (even if they fall short sometimes) that is very rare.
10. Barring LeBron's Cavs winning the East, or Kobe winning the West, KG will be the MVP this year, even though his numbers have dipped. He deserves the award, as his personality has become the centerpiece for the winningest team in the game. Don't hate, congratulate.
