let me start off by saying that iam very dissapointed with the tonights defense, we suck all around on defense even our best defensive player garnett gave bosh a dunk in the last posessions ... but the thing that stands out the most is the way that jose calderon abuse rondo the whole game. rajon does not know how to play pick and roll defense and he is a very overrated defender. if you guys think about it everyteam that uses a lot of pick and roll has gives us problems because rondo sucks at defending it. the coaching staff really has to work on that and danny ainge have to start looking at another point guard that is more solid for the end of the games.

also a bad call from doc putting rondo back into the game and not putting tony allen on him.

guys lets be realistic rondo is not going to take us anywhere .. we have all the pieces to at least make it to the finals but that being said we need another point guar idk if stoudomire or cassell will be available but if not we need to look at someone else.

I knew if the Celts lost tonight there would be a thread made in Caps lock.

If the Celtics allow teams to shoot 75% from 3 for the rest of the season they won't do very well. This is all I took from this game.

The Celtics took more 20 more god damn shots and lost. These things happen. This is why teams don't win 82 games; because even if you outplay the other team in every other aspect, they can make a ton of crazy shots and still win.

The Timberwolves just beat the Suns.

toronto reminds me of the Jim Obrien Celtics. They took a lot of threes and some nights they went in and some nights they didn't but when the playoffs came around everyone realized we were a one trick pony and the C's were overmatched!

The O'Brien Celtics shot a lot of threes, but didn't pass the ball around like the Raptors. The game plan always was "give the ball to Toine or Paul". That team had the distinct quality of having not one but two black holes. The Raptors? Not even close.

By the way, while Pierce was an average 3-point shooter and Walker an atrocious one, some of the Raptors shoot threes at a very high percentage.

This is the second time, since '86, a team has hit 15 3s while attempting fewer than 22.

The other time was also against the Celtics in 1997. Weird.

Just to respon to the OP...When a team runs a pick-n-roll. It's usually the big that's exposed more than anything. Because the big has to come out to the perimeter to help out. Also, when the pick n' roll is run well its very difficult to defend against it without good help players on the wings. The whole point of the Pick-n-roll is to make the defence compremise. Its unfair to blame Rondo solely.

We are 33-7... thats still pretty darn good!

Yet the Raptors last 3 possessions of the game were drives to the basket that resulted with Dunks/foul shots and layups. By the way they converted each of those possessions.

Reduce the turnovers the Raptors had down to their season average of 11 from 19 and last night would've been a blowout.

Last night was a flukey game.

They shot 58% from the field, 71.4% from 3, and 100% (19/19) from the FT line.

Honestly most teams won't shoot that well from 3 even if you leave them open (which we weren't for the most part) and rarely will teams shoot that well from the FT line as well.

We can definitely still improve our defense, but considering the shooting numbers losing by ONLY 2 is pretty impressive, actually.

Co-sign. I'm not sure what we could do. They were shooting so well by the end of the game that our guys were having to help to the point that we couldn't be anything but way out of position. There were only two adjusments we could have really made, move Tony to guard Calderon and hope he fights over the pick or goe under the pick more. Honestly during this rough stretch I think some attention should be paid to Tibedaeu. It seems to me like there are stretches in the game where we get burned by the same play 4-5 times in a row without much adjustment. This has been especially notable yesterday and in the Bobcats game.
