Tony Allen giveth - And Tony Allen taketh away

God God, is he frustratingly inconsistent. I mean, I would say its literally a 1 for 1 ration. For every good play he makes, he makes one as equally bad/stupid decision. And his overrated defense is average - at best. Some points:
He has as many turnovers as Ray Allen or Rajo Rondo. In half the minutes. He actually averages one turnover every 11 minutes. That's pretty bad.
His assist to Turnover ratio is less than one. HORRIBLE for a guard.
I don't have any stats to back this one up, but he seems to have more offensive charge calls called against him than anyone else. And 99% of those come when he turns the blinders on and drives recklessly to the lane.
The funny thing is that he also does do legitimately good things on the court too. But at this point, they're being overshadowed by sloppy basketball.

yup, that's the TA enigma. at least he makes things happen- but it sure would be nice if it wasn't half good things and half bad things!
me, i tend to like guys who are at least aggressive and make things happen than guys who just float around and don't impact the game at all. i think experience makes for better judgement, but TA appears to be a slow learner *sigh*...

there is already a thread on tony allens shortcomings as a player

I didn't see it. Besides, is there supposed to be no redundancy in threads here? Because if you're looking to cut out duplicate threads, I have about 90,000 for you.

His D is a bit better than average...
his biggest problem
1. BALL HANDLING this guy can't get the frigging ball anywhere! it's terrible! he's a turn over machine
2. consistency

Thats probably why his option wasn't picked up by the ballclub?
I think he's a restricted free agent come next summer?
If so, I wonder if the C's will match an offer from another team for his services?

There was no option to be picked up since the 4th year is the last year of his deal. He is going to be restricted and I expect the C's to keep him for a fairly cheap price.

In this case, it's not just the thread theme redundancy, but, the topic has been a hot one recently and has spawned much conversation in more generically titles threads as well. I love having debates around this particular player, but, it's tiresome having to repeat your points over and over again. My opinion it that it hurts the momentum of the conversation.
OT: Reed's tearin it up

Old friend J Reed's been ballin in the d-league. He had 27 tonight for the Toros on 12-19 shooting along with 6 rebounds. Game before that he had 23 on 8-14 shooting along wit 8 boards, and the one before also 8-14 17 pts, 8 boards. I still think he could be a good backup to Pierce at some point as a big athletic sf. He takes it to the rim with abandon like Tony but has a better shot and his d is easily as good. Hopefully Danny gives him another chance. Oh yea if anyone's interested you can actually watch all the D-league games for free online.
oops, i meant to make this as a new topic, oh well.

Just to add to this thread, 82games.com has TA listed as turning the ball over less than his opp **** when he is listed as our SG.
Bottomline, when he plays like he played during his stretch last season, and has played at times recently, other aspects of his game make up for a couple extra turnovers and/or fouls. Its not like Antoine where it was a bit tougher to overcome 10 missed shots he shouldn't have taken and his overall inability to consistently play within the team concept.
We just need TA to maintain his level of confidence.

Plus the fact that TA doesn't have the status of entitlement that Walker had in his Celtic days. You can always pull TA with little concern for backlash.
