Celtics vs Magic Gamethread - Sunday, January 27th

While WTB readies his awesome graphics for the thread (I guess he's looking for more recent images of the players), we can start the discussion.

This is a tough one, can go either way. Orlando is the scene of the Celts' first loss this season, right when they were hotter than hell. But if you think the Celtics have cooled off a bit, the Magic have really cooled off (they are 13-15 since Nov. 30); they have a better record on the road than at home (!!!!) and I think Jameer Nelson is out with an injury (but I'm not 100% sure).

I'll go with a Celtics win, which seems to be the safest bet these days.

We should sit KG,Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo for this game and just take the game on the chin.

all of them are probuly hurt right now.

Perk,Powe,Baby,Scal for bigs.

TA,Pierce,House, hopefully Posey for wings

shoot just Pruitt for PG. Alright I guess we have to play Rajon lol.

Yeah so we've regressed to ORL's level this game could go either way honestly. Could be a blowout for either team, a close game, an amazing comeback. I think anything could happen. Except for Scalabrine beign a good player.

Hope they play well for more than one reason. Other than my fandom, this year I finally scratched my coaching itch and volunteered to coach pee wee basketball (6, 7, 8 year olds). Now that the nationally televised games are starting on early Sunday afternoons, I gave them a homework assignment to watch the next two Celts games on ABC and focus on specific players who play their position. I hope they illustrate the right way to play for my developing young players. :)

I do the images for him. And I've sent them to him already 2 hours ago (usually I do it a lot earlier).

KG is out, wonder who starts.

edit: Great; it's Scal. We won't miss a beat.

With KG being out, Posey is going to play through his hand injury.

Ha ha. I can see why they'd go that way. Turkoglu is going to bring his man way outside. Plus they'll need a lot of those big man fouls to use on Howard.

However things go, Baby and Powe will get plenty of time.

(I'm at work and I'll watch the game later on tape. So I'm depending on all of you to paint your usual detailed account here!)

I thought Posey may get the start for KG, but I guess Veal does make some sense. I see Powe and Big Baby having a hard time trying to cover Lewis on the outside. Veal should be fine if he just plays under control.

Perk w/ 2 fouls.

Now we're lookin' a little thin.

Great, I guess I'm not going to get to watch the game. They are playing Clemson/Miami on ABC here.

Howard with two fouls now should make it easier on our depleted big men.

Consider yourself lucky. I'm getting the 700 Club telethon here in central Virginia.

We're getting to the paint at will. Powe playing well, nothing too impressive just smart solid basketball.

I hate Clemson with a passion so it just makes not being able to watch because of them that much worse.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get through to my pee wee Pierce, that he should pass the ball to Rondo to bring the ball upcourt. He already knows he shouldn't just hold the ball. At least this will reinforce the point. :)

I'll add, though, I like the offensive balance.
