OT: Wow...Lakers get GASOL

Post#1 » by LarryBrdismyDad » Fri Feb 1, 2008 7:49 pm

Here, RealGM reports, not even on ESPN yet.

Memphis Commerical Appeal -
The Commercial Appeal has learned that the Grizzlies have traded Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010.

The decision was made that the Grizzlies could no longer move forward with Gasol on and off the basketball court.

The deal allows the Grizzlies to gain salary cap relief, as Brown is in the final year of a deal that pays $9,075,000.

Bynum comes back and they contend?

This just proves the leading theory by message board pundits that expiring contracts aren't important trade chips.

I can't believe we were rumored to give up Jefferson and Green for Gasol. The Lakers got him for much less. This brings the Lakers a lot closer to a championship title. Their rotation is much more efficient now with Odom at the 3. Lakers-Celtics, NBA Finals 2008, here we come!
