If you can think of options that I don't list, by all means identify them, please.

1. Sam Cassell Buy-Out (Ideal)

2. Swap Brian Scalabrine straight up for Chris Duhon, if Chicago wants to retain salary on their books to facilitate future trades. Duhon will be a UFA this summer.

3. Swap Brian Scalabrine straight up for Tyronn Lue. Doubt that Atlanta wants to lose Lue as a backup, they have no use for Scalabrine. Lue will be UFA this summer.

4. Use trade exception of $1,080,480 to acquire a player like Sergio Rodriguez from Portland, if they will accept two second round picks in exchange.

5. Offer Glen Davis + Gabe Pruitt for Kyle Lowry.

6. Wait till summer, try to sign UFA's Beno Udrich or Carlos Arroyo.

What is the Jury's (You) Preferences ????

And is option 5 a fair trade ???

It seems like Memphis would be willing to lose one of Crittendon or Lowry since they're overloaded at that position. They're also weak at the 4/5 now. I would give up Baby or Powe for one of those guys. Probably a good trade for both teams. Maybe throw in a 2nd rounder if you have to.

I think we'll end up signing Randy Livingston or Travis Best...

Crittendon is a shooting guard in a skinny 19 year old's body.

They call him a point guard because he's rail thin, but he's a shooting guard.

That's why I suggested Davis & Pruitt for Lowry.

Davis + one or two second round picks sounds fairer, but doesn't work under the CBA.

That's why I had Davis + Pruitt.

That trade actually works under the CBA for Kyle Lowry of Memphis.
But then I asked is it fair ??

If we don't get Sam, i don't see us getting anyone.

1. Cassell
Obviously the best point guard that might be available. Great experience in the playoffs and good chemistry with KG and Ray.
2. Payton
Also a lot of experience. Already knows Doc River's system. May still have the ability to slow down Billups as he did during the Heat's title run.
3. Lowry
Good young player. I think that with playing time he might be better than Rondo and at least makes a good backup. He's a very good rebounder for his size, has good court vision, but an unreliable outside shot. If we were going to add Lowry, we wouldn't have to worry about a backup point guard for next year, as GP and Cassell might end up leaving if we're not successful. As a con he doesn't have any experience and because of an injury last year, this is practically his rookie season.

I would offer Pollard expiring, Pruitt, cash and a 2nd round pick or future first for Lowry. I think it would be easier to find a backup big. Plus there is always the chance Memphis buys out Pollard. He would then have to wait 30 days before he could resign with Boston.

Can't add Pruitt to Pollard's salary, won't work. Although the Celtics only pay Pollard $770k, his actual salary is $1,219,590. The League pays the difference. But for trade purposes, it's the higher number.

And, I doubt that the Celtics would trade Pollard to any team unless a full sized center was coming back.

That's because the last sentence of question 70 of Larry Coon's CBA guide explains that you only count the portion the team pays, not the total salary, when computing trades.
