I thought I heard Mike and Tommy discussing the LA pbp guy and they mentioned a VERY interesting stat: The 1st team to get to 100 pts wins 90% of the time...is this true? Are there any stats to back this up? I had never heard this.

I guess I should have done a little research...per Wiki:
"Lawler's Law: The first team to 100 points wins the game. In games involving the Clippers since 1978, Lawler's law has been true 91.5% of the time."

The first team to get to any point first is probably going to win a very high percentage of the time.
100 points generally isn't reach, if at all, until the final 4 minutes of the game or so. If you're up in the final 4 minutes you are going to win a very high percentage of the time. It makes sense.

I'm surprised it's not higher than 91.5 pct.

I bet the winning percentage since 1995 is a lot higher than that. Before then many teams average over 110 points a game.
It's true...

I haven't posted in eons and I don't want to toot my own horn...but I've trumpeted this same "law o' nature" for a long time...tonight while watching the game my girlfriend heard MG mention this and say, "that's your rule!"...and as a resident of the Northeast my entire life, I've never heard the insights of the apparently insightful Mr. Lawler.
So I guess I'm tooting my own horn...but I agree with this "law"....especially since the late eighties and early nineties (the Daley/Riley/Fratello dark ages)
