OT: Marion predictions

Marion has been stewing to get out of the shadows in Phoenix for the past two years. Now that he's out, what type of player do you predict he will be for the Heat?
Here's my prediction: Marion has fallen into the grass is greener mindset and failed to realize that his success has a lot to do with the Suns' system. I have little faith in a player that comments his support of a trade that takes him from being 2nd or 3rd dog on a legitimate contender to 2nd dog on the team with the worst record in basketball. I guess he and Blount should hit it off...
I predict that he falls on his face. He'll get his 15-20pts and 10-12rebs a game, but the Heat will not be a major threat to any team in the East because of Shawn Marion.
BTW... Davis, Blount, and Banks reunited. Sorry Miami fans.

Marion will opt out of his contract after this season, sign a lucrative contract with a team that's not very good, thinking he can be the star. Then he'll realize that there isn't a team in this league where he'd be the #1 option, so in an unprecented move, he voluntarily gets demoted to the NBADL affiliate where he can happily be "the man" and play out the rest of his career.

All Marion has to do is call his good ol' buddy Joe Johson, in Atlanta and ask him how it feels to be the number 1 banana or option, whatever. I am sure Joe can offer him plenty of insight, as he did the EXACT same thing.

Ok, so I have never seen Marion actually dribble a basketball. I'm not saying he cant i've just never seen it. Can he drive, create a double team and then kick to the wide open man? He was always the beneficiary of open lanes to the basket created by others or wide open jumpers created by others...as of now I dont see how he can create his own shot. The suns run and gun style was built for Shawn Marion. He might still do ok but idk about this deal.
It seems that the heat are ok with shaving off two years of shaq's deal to be done with him, bc i'm thinking there is a good chance MIA either overpays marion or some other team overpays him like good ol rashard lewis...

Marion will get more respect from the insiders who forgot he is just as effective as a half-court player as he is in a fast break system.
Many people will recognize him as a great second star and third fiddle offensively on any team and one of the rare do it all SFs in the game like Pierce and LeBron as he leads the Heat in rebounding and shot blocking.
Marion will look for 20 million annually in the offseason, but will end up settling for a VC deal for big money long term. The team that does sign him will return him to his natural postion of SF, and not missue him to guard the likes of Tony Parker or Tim Duncan but stay agaisnt perimeter players.

Marion is not going to leave $17.0 mill on the table. No opt-out for Marion.
Miami might be a pretty good team next year.
Top 5 draft pick, Marion, Wade , Banks, R Davis. Haslem, Blount & Cook. Looks like a playoff team to me.
Marion won't leave the money.

neither ricky nor mark have learned how to be winners.
Marion is gonna find mark in his way most of the times, just like he did to Paul.
Miami need to move these guys for expiring contracts or a big body.

Ricky is a free agent.

As far as the trade goes, I like it for Miami. Wade/Marion's not a bad duo, and they have some sizable expiring deals (Ricky Davis, JWill) that could bring in another max-contract player. Kirilenko to play the 4? Jermaine O'Neal? Odom?

I was thinking that as well. This is Miami. Marion knows that if he and Wade stays together and make this team competitive, that some big name free agent might come and sign with them.

Well they wont have to sell the city. Miami sells itself!

Well besides Wade, they'll could have a starting lineup of Malcontents.
PG Banks
SG Wade
SF Davis
PF Marion
C Blount
Is Miami where Celtics go to burn out? Walker already did it. Ricky Davis loves the night life in Miami Beach so much that he is begging and pleading with Riley not to trade him.

I bet Marion loves this trade going to Miami. He and DWade are a great tandem to have. They will get a good big man in the draft. Miami makes out, Marion is chillin' in south beach, and everybody's happy but Suns fans.

There is a reason Marion's teams have never won jack caca. Suns just became one of the teams to beat with Shaq and Miami better hope they can get another side kick for D-Wade because Marion's not going to help them get anywhere, except an early playoff exit.
He's a very good role player who's stats are inflated because of Nash and the team's system. You don't build anything around Marion and whoever pays him the money he wants won't be a factor in any championship any time soon, unless they land Lebron 2.

hell be a decent, Jamison-type player, just like he was before the Nash/D'antoni era

Pierce teams haven't won jack either.
Were Marion's stats inflated because of Kevin Johnson and Danny Ainge's system?
Marion will have similar stats in Miami as he has had in Phoenix. He averaged 19.1, 21.2 and 19.0 points with 9.9, 9.5, 9.3 rebounds before Nash returned to Phoenix. Marion will be a stud in Miami. If the can fill in around Wade and Marion they will have a very good team. Hopefully, for Heat fans' sake, Riley abandons his stupid slow down/defense at all cost system and lets the players run a little.

Wing player and scoring PG. That combo really does well, so Miami is really going to need to get front court help.

1st round pick which could easily be Hibbert or Beasley.

Riley has already started the Jordan/Pippen thing with Wade/Marion.
Good luck.
