Rasheed Wallace will replace KG. David Stern is the one who picks the replacement. I can't believe it isn't Ray. If Caron Butler is going to miss the game, too, it just has to be Ray (over Turkeyglue and Calderon).

Probably a positional thing.

I'd rather Ray just take the three days off. He's had enough All-Star games, and hopefully he'll have a longer season this year than he's used to.

1. I thought that the Eastern Coaches would vote Rasheed Wallace in over Antwawn Jamison. So, this doesn't surprise me.

The Bigs are Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Rasheed Wallace and Jamison.
That's it for PF and C.

Makes sense.

2. Although Caron Butler may miss the game, I'd hope that Paul Pierce takes the 5 days off. LeBron will warrant 28-30 minutes as a starter. Paul can be in street clothes during practice and the photo ops.

3. If Butler skips the game, and Paul Pierce does to, than I kind of think that Turkoglu and Ray Allen are logical choices.

4. Don't see Calderon getting the nod. Jason Kidd and Chauncey Billups won't leave any minutes for Doc at point guard. Calderon's best hope was to get voted in by the coaches. Next year, Calderon has to hope that Kidd get voted in as a starter. Than, Calderon has a decent chance to be voted in by the coaches.

Ray Allen hasn't played like an all-star this year. People need to relax. The teams been great and Ray has played well, but he just hasn't been an all-star this year. His only real argument is that his competition is pathetic, so he should get a spot by default. Personally, I think they should just give KG's spot to Baron Davis, regardless of conference, at least he actually deserves it.

Wallace is not having an allstar season, that is a travesty.

I agree with BLJ. Ray hasn't played at an all-star level this year. On the other hand, he's started to with the absent of KG. I hope he plays consistently like this when KG comes back.

Ray didn't get snubbed either time. Hedo Turkoglu got snubbed. And if they just picked Sheed for his size, then you could make a case for Big Z over Sheed.

I disagree with Stern's choice (Rasheed Wallace) to replace Garnett. I would've chosen among these names instead, notwithstanding their team's record in the standings.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Gerald Wallace or Emeka Okafor
Zach Randolph
Josh Smith

The new starters could be adjusted to Bosh, James, Howard, Kidd and Wade. Okafor makes the most sense if Stern's thinking was that the eastern squad needed another forward/center. But, not Rasheed. I mean I recall distinctively that he wasn't thrilled about going to the All-Star game the last time. He wanted the off time.

Personally, I'm bothered by this decision for the simple fact that when Detroit had the best start of any team in the league in 2005-2006. Four of their starters were sent to the All-Star game. Now they've three in this season's All-Star game for having the second best record in the league while Ray Allen doesn't get to go while being on the Celtics who have the best record in the league. That isn't right... Ray has indeed had his struggles this season but what of his sacrifices for the team? His numbers still aren't too shabby for someone struggling to find a rhythm and his missed games to injury.

Bonsai:

I think Doc wants 3 point shooters. Not Wade, Kidd, or LeBron's forte.

That's why I think Rasheed got the nod over Illgaukas,

and why I think Ray Allen and Turkoglu may be added if Paul Pierce and Caron Butler back out. Butler is already hurt. Between now and the end of Wednesday's Knick game, I hope Paul decides that he needs a few days off to heal from something.

Two of our three golden oldies will have an extended rest. What's not to like?

Ray Allen did NOT get snubbed.

The East needed size. And you can bet East Head Coach Doc Rivers had some input.. he definitely would have preferred Ray not playing on the East squad and resting instead

Plus Ray was sport enough to volunteer as a replacement even though replacements aren't considered all-stars

I believe Stern went with the highest vote getter for a forward that did not make the squad. So I suppose I really don't have a problem with Wallace on the team.

As for Ray Allen, he doesn't belong at this game. He's not an all-star. And even if Butler can't go, he shouldn't be at the game...Hedo should be.

who cares. better he rest his body anyway. he's too old for stupid allstar games. i wish pierce wouldn't play either.

agree with everyone else. Ray couldn't have ever been snubbed let alone again.

Ray isn't an all-star player this year at all.

Yup, Rasheed is an ingrate.

There is still a possibility that Allen will find his way to New Orleans. Washington

Ray Ray did not get snubbed. I don't think Wallace should have gotten it either.

I agree with the earlier post. Rest your body Ray because we need a better 2nd half than what you gave us in the 1st half.

If you're going to be all smug, even putting things in bold, at least know what you're talking about.

First of all, Ray didn't "volunteer" to be a replacement. He was asked by reporters if he would go if named as a replacement. He said yes -- it's still an honor. That's not volunteering, it's simply answering a question. And second, replacements are most definately considered all-stars.

I know Sheed would rather have the days off but he is clearly better than all of these players. You can't just judge it by ppg. If you're a GM, do you really want Zach Randolph instead of Sheed? When Portland was trying to trade him, is it any wonder that the only team that would take him is the Knicks?
