Who wrote that? Did they even watch the game? Did they notice how the commentators/Van Gundy were noting Tony Allen's good job there? TA had his hands in his pockets in a sense. they weren't even up. Nobody even touched Ginobli...

How can you say he was hacked? That skewers the game recap totally..

hahaha, that pissed me off too! And what's really funny is that I was gonna start a thread about it as well.

It was actually pretty comical how Ginobili tried to leap into Tony as Tony backed away.

Well it's a turn around from the nationally televised Pistons game where TA bit on Billups fake.

This was just really great defense from TA and the other Celtic in the vicinity.

But I mean come on. "HACKED"??

I just saw that, too. That was great, clean defense and Ginobili just looked like a fool.

I was just about to make a thread about this. What the hell kind of agenda driven journalism is this. Just because Ginobili flails away like he's having an epileptic seizure doesn't mean that he's being fouled. TA was ready for that crap and clearly backed off with his hands by his side while looking right at the ref so there could be no doubt that he didn't foul him.

Ginobili needs to go back to Argentina and play soccer where that flopping crap is a part of the game.

Ginobli is a good player who I respect for his ability, but it's really frustrating the way he plays the game. He's just a total bitch. The first three he shot where he tried to throw himself into TA made him look foolish. Sitting on the floor staring at the officials with disgust made him look even stupider.

And then, I couldn't believe that he actually tried it again on the next play. Does the guy have no shame? **** was embarrassing, I couldn't believe such a good player would just straight up embarrass himself trying to throw himself into people while taking ridiculous shots that had no shot of going in.

From watching the BC-Duke game yesterday to the Celts-Spurs game today, this weekend was a total flopfest of basketball. I hate the offensive foul, they should just eliminate that call, I hate how it's somehow become the "tough, hustle" play to make. IMO, it's a play for cowards, it either involves undercutting someone or flopping on the ground instead of actually challenging a shot.

I think one rule change that would infinitely help the game is to allow charges, but if the opposing player dunks on you while your taking a charge, you get called for the foul, no matter if you've been standing in the lane for a good half-hour with your feet planted. Get dunked on = Get punished. Whose with me?

I'd rather see the bigger stronger players dominate than the incessant flopping you have today. Guys don't wanna play straight up defense anymore, they just look for the first excuse to throw themselves on the ground, cross their fingers, and hope the ref bails them out. It's not as bad in the NBA because of the no-charge circle, which I think is a great rule, and the stricter interpretation of the offensive foul, but the college game is a freakin flopfest. The team defense Duke plays breaks down to be "force everything baseline, stand directly underneath the rim, and flop everytime someone takes it strong."

Basketball at its roots is not meant to have the offensive foul rule. Play actual defense, try to block a shot, try to strip the guy. Throwing yourself in front of the player with the ball and falling over while praying for a call is not actual defense. It's just being a bitch.

Can't agree more.The offensive foul is the most abused call I have ever seen. If you flop, by definition the foul shouldn't be called. Player control fouls are important, but coaches teach players to take a charge. That should be outlawed. Hold your position and spot.

Half the time it should be a no call. It is actually a case where the amateur game has influenced the pro game.

The offensive foul rule is fine, but the way it's called in the NBA is crap. We draw a lot of charges too, Posey, Powe, Baby, they all are good at drawing charges, because they are taught to anticipate where the rest of the defense is going to force a guy and beat him to the spot. It's a good call, and it prevents offensive players from just putting their heads down and charging to the basket. But then you get the euros who basically just flail on contact like they got shot from a grassy knoll.

still, i thought all the charge/block calls in this game were pretty good. the refs didn't buy all the flopping and crap. if all refs were that good i wouldn't complain.

Speaking of offensive fouls. Powe was like a freight train on that break. Didn't he know it was Ginobili in front of him? You have to steer 3 or 4 feet clear of that guy or he falls over.

Sure Ginobili flopped...cause SA is a smart team...they know how horrible the refs are in the NBA and try to take advantage of it every time they can...I only wish Ray Allen wasn't such an honest guy--there's been a ton of times this year where he's been hacked/grabbed-and he just plays right through it--he ain't no Reggie Miller or Manu Ginobili,and it actually hurts the team.
