OT: This board - Rollcall
Let me start out saying that I've been coming to this board often, everyday, for 3 and a half years (probably started reading it earlier). This has been my main source of info on the Celtics, the league and many other fun things. This has helped me keeping track of my favorite team and I've learned a lot of new things about basketball. I've agreed and disagreed - and that's a part of being on a board like this.
But as of late I've seen this board decline. Fewer posts and less interesting. I've been wondering what has happened to many great posters. Jsimon, Spf and many others haven't posted in almost a year. I remember a post from a guy named anh something, he had few but very insightful posts.
My main man CalderCup rarely posts and same goes for GonzoLays. BigHands checks in once in a while, and usually drops a lot of wizdom - ditto for Gant. Sully is still here and that's great. E.Blunder doesn't post enough. I like Pouge Mahone's posts, wish I'd see more of those.
BillfromBoston checks in, bombs us with a lot of good info, but then leaves to quickly. Pete is still on full force, (still haven't gotten to know what <g> means, but man you do say that a lot!) I remember Pete from the Celtics-Nation messageboard, where I honestly thought that Jiri Welsch was better than Ricky Davis. It looks like you won that argument! I'm not forgetting Elrod, SuperDeluxe, PracticleMan...or the other guys that post here now..
But I'm probably forgetting somebody very, very good. Blame my mind, not my heart, haha...
I guess I could go on and on. I just miss those good days. I guess I'm also saying thank you, to all the great posters who have made this board better.
I sincerely do hope that some of those former posters will read this and come back. Atleast let us know you're alive and well.

I think a big part of it is that we are so succesfull right now there is alot less to debate then there has been the past few years.....look at traditional arguments from the board the past couple of years, who is the best PG, Banks, Rondo or West, Setteled will gerald green be an all star or not......not our problem anymore, should we re-aquire or trade antoine walker setttled, who should start pretty clearly established this year. That doesn't mean theres not alot to talk about, and don't forget right here in America we just had the superbowl last week alot of people are sportsed out, and we had some really good long term posters do some stupid things in the last year and a half and get themsevles banned, but for me, I find myself less inspired to start new threads this season then past years because there is alot less to argue about. There are some issues, the PG issue the Backup Center issue, i mean the board has a purpose and lots of people are still posting.
Right now its the middle of the season, we are in first place, even though january was a bad month compared to the last 2 it was still solid and most of our losess had explanations like one of the big 3 being out. I think as the playoffs get closer and closer the board will get more and more active, we will have an upswing near the trade deadline of course, but its just the duldrums of the long season, remember earler in the season we were having some icnredibly long game threads, i think the first detriot one was like 60 pages, you go on most boards or over on celtics blog and our game threads are ALOT longer. So while I actually noticed a few less people posting recently too i think its just that time of the year.

I know I have posted less this year, for the reasons already given. I am also syuper busy with the rest of my life. But like John Locke I have missed some of the other posters. There are some very smart people who post here -- John mentioned most of them -- and I really appreciate reading what they have to say. There are some folks more interested in petty ego games and posturing, but that stuff is unavoidable in an open forum. It is a lot better here than other places I have seen.
But I agree, the overall amount of quality threads is down. Is there somewhere else on the web these posters have gone?

Darth Celtic drove me from this board. I believe he slapped with me with around 10 warnings in the past year for being me. He use to lock, delete, and edit my threads. And after doing so would preposterously accuse me of things I didn't' even do. It was so damn irritating I had to get away from the board. If I could show you guys my realgm inbox, you would just laugh your ass off -- nothing but Darth threatening me with being waived permanently.

Another thing to think about is there is just no need to say something all the time anymore. Of the 2 or 3 hundred posts I have made I can't count how many of them stem from anger or frustration. The game threads are dead because it is actually more fun to watch the game than post on the internet.
I am so GD filled with contentment that even after the game is over and we win I don't even turn on the computer I just walk around the house with this **** eating grin on my face.
This is also just a dead time in the NBA, everyone not addicted to the game is just starting to pay attention and getting up to speed. Once the trade deadline comes and things to start to shape up for the postseason I think things will pick up.
If nothing else there will always be draft talk, but at least now it hopefully won't happen till friggin June when it is supposed to.

Personally, I think Jsimon never fully recovered from having all his binkies traded. But that's just me.

Celtic Esquire wrote:I also wonder what happened to JSimon and spf211. Those two guys were great for this board.
jsimon kind of got run off over the KG/Big Al thing. After it went down he wanted to just move on like he never wanted it the other way and some people couldn't let it go. Every post seemed to turn into "but you didn't want to trade Big Al." That was my impression hopefully he comes back.
spf probably just has a real life.
For what it is worth I am a big fan of both DarkAzcura and EvadedHavoc.

We are winning now, so we don't need to plan, vent or bitch as much as we used to.
The 'trade Pierce', 'fire Doc', 'pray for Oden' mainstay threads of this board no longer seem relevant.
The game threads are minute now, which sucks as they are my main source of in game info, but even that isn't as important now as the C's games are being broadcast much more often overseas (and we can stream games).
It sucks, but this isn't the first time it has happened to the board. There is almost no one left from when I started reading/posting (no comments about lack of life needed).

That's the other point, add a few years on from when people started posting and a lot of them now have kids, jobs, thesis' or at least a girlfriend.
The cycle of life continues with the new fans (who haven't had to suffer like us poor bastards)

you will not get that collection of personalities and you will not get that level of freedom agane. mang wishes some of the newer members of the board could see some of the **** that used to go down around here. even though our team sucked we amused ourselves by making infighting and **** talking a high art... dems was a glorious time
anyway, mr locke, the soljas shall rally for the playoff push you ain't got to worry about that.
but it will look a little more like this...

one of the problems is good posters becoming moderators.
spinmove, canman, tlee, and westthebest used to be good posters before they became moderators.
now, when they aren't over-modding - their posts are just boring, and their opinions are sparse.
Part of the fun of a message board is arguing, but a lot of posters like myself are just sick of watching good debates get censored. it isn't surprising that these "good debates" are now less frequent.

If anyone can read this:
I dont post here too much these days but I do read a bit. I work long hours, come home, watch the games and vent. People get pissed off and call me names. So I decided to stay low and try to chill. So far so good, I would add. As it is, I am under immense pressure at work and the last thing I want to do is fight with people over the internet. I also dont see GreenPiece more these days. And even though Simon and I clashed, I kinda miss the dude's posts.
