stupid NBA rule
Posey got a technical for a hard foul on Ginobli AFTER he was fouled by Tony Allen and the play was dead. In my opinion once the play is dead there shouldn't be any further fouls called. Ginobli went to the basket clearly after the whistle was blown and Posey comiitted a hard foul. It makes no sense to call that foul on Posy. But for Ginobli taking it upon himself to continue going to the basket when he knew the play was dead and there was not reason for him to continue ( it was not a continuation play) , why call a foul on Posey? Ginobli is the one who initiated the whole sequence. That is one of the dumbest rules I ever saw. Now, if Posey on his own goes and hits Ginobli after the whistle is blown then ok he should get a T but not when Ginoblie set the whole sequence in motion after the play was dead.

I would have agreed with you until I saw the second replay. Posey clearly just shoved Ginobili in the chest, not even going for the ball. Even if a foul hadn't been called on Tony outside, I think Posey would have gotten called for a hard foul.
I don't like the "softness" of the NBA right now but refs are pretty consistent in calling a "T" for borderline hard fouls to not let the game get chippy.
It's annoying but you can thank guys like Laimbeer, Oakley, and Barkley for that...

If the play has been whistled dead, and Ginobili decides to continue on, why should Posey have to make a play on the ball when a guy is running towards him? Posey stuck his arms out and pushed Ginobili away. It wasn't flagrant. If it was, Ginobili would've ended up in the stands with the way he flops.

It wasn't flagrant but it was unnecessary. Every NBA player tries to continue shooting after a foul to get continuation.
Don't get me wrong. I think the way Ginobili and other floppers in the league try to exploit the rules is out and out cheating and bad for the game. But, I just thought in this case the ref made the right call. Posey didn't even really complain.

You can't just make it a free for all after a whistle has been blown and allow players to be overly aggressive. Obviously you shouldn't be able to get a personal foul after the play has stopped but a tech is fine.
I'm sure it would be a different story if Bowen or Horry took out Rondo or Tony Allen after the whistle, most people wouldn't be too happy and would want some sort of punishment.
