Who would you want to play in the finals?

I honestly think we could beat any of the teams coming out of the West, but the team I'd want to face the most is Dallas.

Dirk has proved he can be muscled around and I'm not impressed with Josh Howard etc.

That's why I put "Who would you..." instead of "When we are done destroying everyone in the east..."

While this is obviously very premature, for the sake of the question I would say either Dallas or L.A. I think the Mavericks are the team least built for the playoffs out of the four. The difference is that I'm more afraid of what Kobe could do than anyone on the Mavericks. The Spurs have shown what they can do in the playoffs, and I absolutely hate watching them flop around. I couldn't stomach a 7-game series. The Suns also have a deep team, and with the Celtics having problems at times with the pick and roll, Steve Nash would be extremely dangerous.

I wouldn't want to face LA because I wouldn't want them to even have a slim chance at grabbing another title. They've had enough chances this decade.

 LA and New York are 2 teams that I hate. Luckily we only have to worry about one of them thanks to Isiah.

I say LA for the Celtics -Lakers memories it would bring back.

I also think we match up better against the lakers than the other teams.

Lakers for obvious reasons.

We match up pretty well too, Perk does a good job with Bynum, Ray has experience defending Kobe, Pau Gasol can't come close to defending KG, and Pierce pretty much has his away against LA.

Umm, nowhere in the opening post did cfan79, or any other poster in this thread, suggest the Celtics are already in the finals. The use of the word would reveals that this thread is hypothetical.

I agree, though I can understand the sentiment of not wanting LA withing throwing distance of a title. On the other hand, nothing would be more satisfying than to BEAT L.A.! again, and that's what I'll be hoping for.

I don't want to face any of those teams.

In order of how difficult it would be to beat those teams in a 7-game series....1 being the most difficult

1. San Antonio- They have 4 titles. They DON'T lose in the finals. When healthy and playing well this team is the best in the business until proven otherwise. If Boston could get to game 7 in Boston then we'd have a fighting chance.

2. Phoenix- The NBA finals last season was the Round 2 match-up between Spurs and Suns. The Suns were the 2nd best team in the league last season. I wouldn't want to play against Nash, Amare, and Shaq. I'm in the minority thinking that the move for Shaq was a good one. I think we would lose to Phoenix.

3. Dallas- We would beat Dallas in 6 games. Dirk is soft and outside of Dirk and Howard they really aren't a very good basketball team. If they bring in Kidd then everything changes.

4. LA- We would beat LA in 6 games as well. Gasol is soft..Bynum is too young. Perk and KG would dominate in the paint. But whenever you have a superstar like Kobe Bryant you have a chance.

I say Dallas because we are exactly what they want to be. A great defensive team with at top 5 offense. BOS will win the championship this year barring any major catastrophies.

Cart -- Horse?

Let's hold off on stuff like this until we've, at least, made it to the playoffs, preferably made it to the finals.

"Jinx us? Why yes, I do believe in jinxes!" he says throwing salt over his right shoulder while spinning around three times while hopping on one foot. ;)

In the finals? lol ... yes i know we're goin to make the playoffs but I'm not about to touch the finals with a ten foot stick. I mean Dallas lost to the warriors last year... no one knows how we're goin to do in the playoffs. It will also be a true test on Doc's coaching ability.
