Pietrus

Would you do it? Pietrus is desperate to get out of GS, I see him as an upgrade over Tony Allen, and is capable of playing multiple positions, big guard or even forward. Golden State gets a needed outside shooter and depth at the guard. With Danny's drafting he can make use of the second rd pick. I think this guy might be available at a discount and we just might have the right pieces. I think he would be an asset to this team, and would be motivated playing here. Definetly a versatile player

Incoming To Boston:
Mickael Pietrus 1 year left (3.47 mil)
2nd Rd pick

Outgoing To GS:
Tony Allen (1.87 mil)
Eddie House (1.5 mil)

I don't think I'd do that. I really see House as a valuable guy, especially for the playoffs. And Pietrus hasn't played better than Tony this year.

Why is Pietrus an upgrade over Tony Allen? I would rather have Tony Allen then Pietrus and throwing in Eddie House in there makes it a pretty bad trade for the Celtics.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

I agree. At this point a two for one deal with our injuries does not make sense.

Tony Allen is better than Pietrus.

Yeah I don't think Pietrus is an upgrade over TA at this point but he is an intriguing prospect. Tony has really come on as of late and is going to be a huge asset come June. However, if we could somehow swing Scal, Pruitt, and a 2nd for Pietrus then I might be interested.

My main point here is that the guy wants out and might be able to be had for a bargain. Also I think he fits in well with the team. What would be fair?

The guy wants playing time at the SF position. We have Pierce and Posey to take care of those minutes.

Trade him for scal and pruitt, a second and cash.
Move posey to pf, give him scals minutes, reduces need to play paul 38 min a night

If we're going to be trading for anyone it should be fore a backup PG. Everything else will be addressed in the off season. As someone so eloquently put it in another thread, this is the team we're going to war with.

If the team was below .500 I would do it to try and mix things up but this seems like too much of a lateral move to benefit us

There's still a move to be made here. Our front court lacks the height to go up against the Duncan, Ilgauskus, Howard & Wallace come playoff time. I realize this proposed trade doesn't address that. But the bench isn't built for the "war". Our bench bigs have no playoff experience and our guards are seriously flawed. We have small chips we aren't using and I think they can be upgraded.

In this scenario I am under the assumption that Cassell is being worked on, and will be bought out and signed for the vet min.

This guy stinks. He isn't any better than Tony or House, never mind both. I just knew when I was on the homepage and saw the wiretap, my first thought was, "I bet there is a thread started about it already." And I was right. What I am a bit disappointed is the lack of Trade for Curry or Randolph threads. Come on guys, we are slacking. I mean, the Cs have lost 9 games.

I think Pietrus is better than Tony, but I wouldn't give up TA and House for him. House's shooting could prove very useful in tight situations.

Say we can get gim for one of the two (House or Allen) plus scal and a 2nd rd pick, you do it? I think this guy would make our bench seriously more formidable.

I'm sorry, but we don't know what that means.

Formidable- (dictionary.com)

1. causing fear, apprehension, or dread: a formidable opponent.
2. of discouraging or awesome strength, size, difficulty, etc.; intimidating: a formidable problem.
3. arousing feelings of awe or admiration because of grandeur, strength, etc.
4. of great strength; forceful; powerful: formidable opposition to the proposal.

I can't go through the rest of this season watching Scal play and I'm not sure how reliable Posey, Baby and Powe will be come play off time.

Pietrus = Tony Allen next year if he gets pissy about the contract situation this offseason
