So if this deal goes down the cavs ship out Gooden,Marshall,Newble, and Simmons and get back Wally,Ben Wallace,Joe Smith, and Delonte West. Does this even help them? By all accounts from Bulls fans Wallace is done and Hughes when healthy is more productive then a healthy Wally. I just see this as a panic move to appease Lebron.

I always thought Delonte would be perfect next to LBJ, they've been chasing him since he was here. I don't think Wallace is a very good pickup though. So I give them an A for getting Wally and West, and a B for Joe Smith, and a D for Ben Wallace. It's an awful lot of players to try to integrate halfway through the season.

And the best part is we play them in 6 days.

Great move for the CAvs. They are now longer and more versitile. Joe is a great little player. Big ben next to Z at the power forwrd will work out great. Wally provides consistant shooting and west can play on or off that ball.

With all the moves madeon the west and this move by the Cavs. The C's are no longer the favorites. C's are one of five teams with a chance but below the western powers of Spurs, Lakers, Suns, in the mix with Cavs, pistons.

the league just beefed up.

I Love this deal for the Cavs. Lebron is the one player in the league where I don't feel his teammates weaknesses matter as long as their strengths compliment his.

This is shaping out to be the best NBA regular season ever.

Eh, Wallace is garbage. Joe Smith is decent though. West is overrated and Wally is decent. Might improve them some but not a huge impact..

To the OP you can't believe Hughes is a better player than Wally.

at this point in there careers I'd take Gooden over Big Ben. I think if he stays healthy Wally could be a better fit next to Lebron offensively. But defensively there is a big drop off.... Joe Smtih is a nice pick up. I still cant picture Wally trying to cover Ray or Paul.

Deal screams of desperation. We all know first hand what Wally can do and Big Ben hasn't looked the same isnce he left the Pistons. Maybe a change of scenery will help him, but I still don't think this puts them in the same league as Det and ourselves. Pretty blah deal if u ask me

I thought joe is going to seattle (sorry, Joe is going to the cavs)
LBJ is doing to the cavs what KG did to the wolves.

The wolves signed a lot of guys to make KG happy, guys that were his friends (hassell, madsen,...). It seems like LeBron is picking players he wants to play with, and that is basically won't get them a championship and they will probably eventually lose lebron.

yes I do. Wally cant defend ANYONE. He should just wave a white flag when players blow by him. Wally might be a better fit to pair with Lebron offensively because Wally is a better shooter. But whats the good if Wally scores 20 when say someone like Ray Allen or Rip Hamiliton can drop 40 on him?.. dont forget the cavs gave up Newble in this deal so they dont really have a great defender for the elite sgs in the league.

Agreed.

These moves do nothing to move them into the elite category. Wally will get torn to shreds by Ray Allen or Rip Hamilton and Ben Wallace is arguably the worst player in the NBA at this point. He's just so bad offensively and has lost quite a bit of what he was defensively that he has a negative impact on his team, especially since he's got a big name and big contract (and ego) and his coaches have felt the need to play him significant minutes.

I actually think West will be a nice fit there, but he doesn't really matchup well against us because he struggles against quick PG's and Rondo should be able to blow by him.

Well, if Delonte can settle in next to Lebron, I'm happy for him.

Seattle just turned the Ray Allen trade into
Ray for Jeff Green, Donyell Marshall, Ira Newble, and Adrian Griffin.

I like the deal from Chicago's point though. Wallace was a definite mistake for them. Hughes might be able to play better on the Bulls, but he kinda duplicates Ben Gordon.

^ MAn you guys are crazy, I already talked about wally and Delonte, but also Joe and Ben complement Big and Lebron much better than Gooden. Plus check out their frontline versatility. They can trot out an offensive rebounding tour de force in Wallace and Big Z, Big Z and AV. or AV and BW. Substitute Joe Smith for Wallace and you have an ultra skilled frontline. Just a brilliant trade IMO. Best trade of the year in the sense that it was not an obviously possible trade to design or accomplish.

Yeah Wallace has declined, but he was never going to look good on a team without a frontline compliment like Chicago. He is a perfect fit for Cleveland. Only Houston might have made similar sense for Wallace.
