Can we get the Sam Cassell countdown started?

He is still with the Clippers and last time I checked Donald Sterling is still the owner. If Sam gives up $1-2 million off his deal, then I think he will be ready to join the C's by the time they get back from the West Coast.

FWIW: Ric Bucher said Cassell's camp is working on a buyout but he put the odds at "50-50 or less" that it gets done in the end.

Cassell not getting traded was a big hurdle IMO. Now, I don't see any reason for him not to get bought out. Sterling saves some cash, Clippers lose a few more games for a better draft pick, Clippers establish good relationship with Cassell's agent and Cassell gets to finish his career going for a championship. If the Clippers still think they can make the playoffs they are out of their minds.

Wait WoW really? Can I really put my hopes on this and not get my feelings hurt?

OMG YESSORZZZZ Please Please Please he'll be a great addition.

Other teams won't know what hit them when we bring in:

Cassel/Tony Allen/House/Posey/ Baby or Powe

That's a bench that can keep pace with starters.

I love your optimism but that bench would never keep up with our starters... most other teams starters can't keep up with our starters:)

with starters though!!!

Not all at once. Think about it, short stints of Tony Allen, Sam Cassel, and Posey.

Sprinkle in a Baby and House with our customary Pierce or R.Allen or KG.

Per minute I'd wager put together our bench would keep pace with some starters :)

so it's NOT optimism!!! Celebrate!!

Sam Cassel + Tony Allen puts us over the top in the East

if he does get bought out--don't be surprised if he signs with the Cavs now.

negative nelly aren't you?

Sam has said he wants to join the Celtics, where has he said he wants to join the Cavs?

He'd be the starting PG on the Cavs--not just Rondo's back up...D.West would back him up...plus the lure of playing with LeBron might make him have second thoughts on Boston....might not happen, but don't be surprised....after the Lakers stole Gasol, anything can happen.

Oh come on. He's already publicly stated he wants to play for Boston, and he's PRIMED to be relegated to the backup role. I think that outweighs your own speculation that he'd prefer to start for a mediocre team (wasn't he already doing that?) over contributing to an elite team.

Cassell would love it here. He would have a more than capable PG in Rondo to split the PG duties. I think he realizes that a 20-25 minutes role would be perfect for him. Plus, He will have plenty of chances to close out games with the starters. Rondos FT shooting has been a liability at the end of the last 2 games.

Not to mention KG is like one of his best friends.

San Antonio is a good team that could pay him more than minimum money. And with Barry gone they might have a major role for him.

Cleveland is, unfortunately, a good fit for him too. Starting role, plus shotblockers to help him out on defense.

On the Cs he'd have to take all of House's minutes and perhaps some of Tony's to get the role he'd just be handed on the Spurs. Of course, this should be pretty easy for him.

More to the point, since he has good friends on the Cs, he can get a very candid insider's assessment of what it would be like if he came. That may be worth even more to him than just the possibility of playing with his buddies.

KG is his best friend, he is close with Ray.
If Sam gets bought out, he's a Celtic.
