Yao Ming's season reportedly is over.
Yao
KRIV-TV in Houston and The Houston Chronicle are reporting that Yao has a stress fracture in his left foot and the Rockets are expected to announce he will have season-ending surgery later Tuesday.
The team has scheduled an afternoon news conference.
Houston, currently on a 12-game winning streak, is in fourth place in the Southwest Division. The streak followed a loss in the one game that Yao has missed all season.
The 7-foot-6 Yao is averaging 22.0 points and 10.8 rebounds in 55 games this season.

Sad to see. I feel bad for Rocket fans.

The Rockets and their fans can just never get a break. They finally start playing how everyone expected them to and this happens. It's disappointing for me too, since the Rockets are one of the teams that I like and follow that's not the Celtics.

That's horrible... Yao was dominating and the Rockets were emerging as a big time contender...

Oh man that's awful. The eight west playoff teams just got decided. Denver and Golden State are in.

I think this actually may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for H-town fans. Despite their winning streak, I still saw a slim chance for the Rockets to get past the 2nd round, let alone the first round. The WCF is stacked and I just couldn't see that team getting past LA, Spurs, Mavs, Suns, and even the Jazz.
Now the Rockets may as well let McGrady rest or have him undergo season ending back surgery. They'll likely land in the lottery with pick number 14. Even at such a number they can get a real quality PG, or better yet a PF, like Hansborough, to play alongside Yao. So I don't feel too bad for Rocket fans.

Bad news for Rockets fans and the league. And Yao, of course.
Best to take care of that and give him plenty of time to heal so it doesn't become a chronic problem.

I feel bad for Houston. The TMac/Yao experiment is much like KG was in Minny for years. Were they going to win a series as a 6 or 7 seed? Probably not. But no team could write them off.
I dont think this puts GS and Denver in, it could motivate certain Rockets players, it could kill their season. They're going to go small, it's not quite over but it doesn't look good.

THAT sucks for HOU and YAO. He is a big guy who is always going to have to deal with with feet and leg problems.

I'm a little weirded out by how sympathetic I am towards the Rockets right now..... Hellloooo Brent Barry.

Too bad, an underrated reason this season has been good was that up to this point there had only been two major injuries- Brand and Arenas and Arenas might be back. Many years a ton of guys get hurt.

Fantasy-wise, it couldn't have happened at a better time.
I share the sentiment around here. This sucks big time for him (one of the nicest guys in the league) and for Houston. Hopefully he'll recover 100%.

you could almost see something like this happening, how classic is this
they should just start playing yao after the all star break every season
