OT: Play-offs

Post#1 » by scots3314 » Wed Feb 27, 2008 12:24 am

I know we are weeks away from the playoffs, but if the season were to end today the Celtics would be playing the Sixers and then the winner of the Cavs and Raptors.

Would you guys rather fall to the #2 seed? If that were to happen we would play the winner of the Magic and Wizards, and that would allow the Cavs and Pistons beat up on each other before we had to play either. Of course we would lose home court if the Pistons won.

This is of course if things were to stay the way it is at this point.

Personally I would hate to have to play the Cavs and Pistons to make it to the Championship. I think we can beat both but it would be nice to let these two kill each other before we get to them.

1.Either if we get second or the first seed we will have a easy first round.
2. Playing the Magic in the second round is as hard as playing the cavs IMO.

Personally i would rather play both teams so people wont say that we had an easy run to the finals. I also think it will be Magic vs Celtics in the eastern conference finals.

I'd rather play the magic.

It is an interesting choice. Homecourt in a potential game 7 or the risk of LeBron tearing us a new one.

The Cavs in the Conference Finals might have a lot more momentum by that stage (with the new players) than in the second round, which is another way of looking at it.

I suppose for me I see Detroit as the better team but I am not really scared of them the way I am scared of LeBron. I mean he got to the finals last season with basically a supporting cast of retards.

It wont matter whoever we play because we're gonna win the ring anyway.

Not worried about LeBron. I have faith in Pierce. I am excited to play the Cavs in the playoffs. I hope Pierce abuses LeBron, and shows the world how damn good he is.

If we are going to be a Champion, we need to beat anyone in our way. You don't worry about anyone if you are the best. What would be ironic would be to lose to the Pistons seeing our very own GM is the man who made their team what it is now facilitating the Wallace trade for them.

I don't think the current standings resemble anything near what they will at the end of the season...most notably regarding Orlando and Cleveland.

I think the Cavs will end up with the 3rd seed and the Magic with the 4th seed. Thus if the C's get the 1 seed, we'd see Orlando most likely in the 2nd round followed by either Detroit/Cleveland in the ECF. I'd defintley rather have the easier road and do agree that I'd rather not see Boston play both Detroit and Cleveland. I don't if people are doubting the C's b/c their road to the finals was slightly easier than it could have been. I just want to see us in the finals.

Also you can't underestimate the importance of home court advantage in the playoffs. The Celtics have lost like only once (maybe a few more, but defintley a few times) in games 7's at Boston. I know the lost to Indy at home, but I can't see that happening again with this unit.

Let's not forget about the Raptors. I think they would have a very good chance of beating either the Cavs or Magic in the first round.

Me personally, I would rather play the Magic or Raptors instead of the Cavs, but that's more because I think a series with the Cavs would be tougher physically, not necessarily in terms of winning the series. That being said, I'd still want to push for HCA and let the chips fall where they may.

I just think all this "who would you rather meet in the second round" stuff is premature. First, lets make the playoffs (100% certain), second, make sure everyone is healthy (you never know), and focus on their first round matchup. Anything can happen in any round, just ask Dallas.

I'd rather play Orlando in the second round also. Dwight Howard just has to be kept out of the paint to beat them. So hopefully the Cavs will move up to the 3rd seed.

Always go with being number one. Pound on the 8th place seed quickly and be well rested for the 2nd round.

We will have to beat all the best teams to go all the way anyways which is what we all want. Not having homecourt is huge - even bigger when you hit the finals is even bigger when you are playing 2-3-2. Home court is too huge an advantage in the NBA - especially with the boston hometown crowd - the best fans in the world IMO
