OT: Newble & Giricek Released

Ira Newble was released from the Seattle Supersonics today.
Gordon Giricek was also released from Philly

I bet another team will pick up Newble, he is a pretty good defender and has some size. He might be useful to a team like SA or Detroit, hell Cleveland might even sign him. It will be interesting to see what happens. Does SA have a spot for him and Barry? Detroit? I'm assuming Cleveland could cut Dickens or Thomas who they called up from the d league.

I could see Giricek going to PHX as reported, he gives them some good insurance shooting.

Do you all see these guys getting picked up? Whos going where? I can't wait for the playoffs, this is going to be really exciting.

On another note. I watched the Dallas vs. San Antonio game last night, although it wasn't all that exciting to watch it was definetly a back and forth battle. J Kidd does some nice things for that team, but ultimately I think he hurts them a bit. They seem too reliant on him to orchestrate things when he is in, and after a few minutes it gets stagnant. He certainly made some pretty passes though.

Is it just me, or are a lot more players being bought out this year than in the past?

It's what happens when there's a lot of "filler" traded to teams that want to clear cap space. It sure as hell makes things more interesting.

the nba is almost as much a trend league as the nfl, last year made buyouts more common, so franchises have followed suit this year.

Good point. The total salary in trades is very high this year, and that leads to filler of the sort that's apt to get bought out.

I'm not sure there's an unusual number of guys getting bought out who didn't recently get moved in a trade. Cassell and who else?

Definitely makes things more interesting, all these buy outs and releases.

No clue where Giricek will end up, but I'd guess Newble will end up back in Cleveland.

So Philly basically gave away Kyle Korver for nothing now. Good move, 76ers!

trust me alwayslove, I don't want them either, that's why I made it OT. Not to mention once sam comes on board our roster is full and set for the playoffs, no more moves. Sounds like Gordon is going to PHX, as for Newble, I haven't heard anything

They got rid of his bloated contract and got a first round pick. Sounds pretty good to me.
