...I thought we were past this with the emergence of Powe/Davis as consistent contributors...

When Posey is at the 4 spot this team turns into an entirely perimeter oriented attack...when the 17-25 foot shots aren't falling the team becomes offensively (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and basically has to prevent the other team from scoring at all in order to win the game...

The team went about 6-7 minutes in the 4th completely lacking any type of offensive aptitude...it turned an easy game into a nail-biter because the team had ZERO offense...

While this lineup has has limited success in the past it has been an offensive failure far more often than its been a success and that is consistent with the shooting averages that come with perimeter attacks...

No easy baskets, not cuts to the hoop or pick-and-roll and absolutely no 2nd chance points or offensive rebounds to speak of...

Doc takes a lot of criticism, but he usually gets it right eventually...I just thought we were past this little experiment...if he wants to try it for 2-3 minutes to see if its working that's fine, but for the love of god, don't piss away the bulk of the 4th quarter waiting for it to happen...

I agree. I do think those days will be over though with the addition of Brown. I was wondering why he didn't go back to Perk as well? If you are going to have guys shooting the long ball, you need rebounding from guys like Davis, Powe and Perk. Garnett cannot do it all by himself.

I think Posey playing the 4 is ok as long as the opposing team is not larger.

Rivers is going to kill me with his stupid decision making! Perk plays a great game and then Doc sits him in the fourth. And Pierce who was the worst player in the game plays 40+ minutes...

I totally agree with the OP. I hate small ball and always have, especially at the end of games. We need a rebounder in the game down the stretch.

I also agree with Tommy Heinson that at the end of the 4th quarter in a close game, you cannot resort to shooting jumpers (especially with Posey in the game because they don't usually get the offensive rebound in case of a miss). They need to get the ball to KG in the paint or let PP or Rondo drive to the hoop and finish or dish. Going small and shooting all those jumpers in the 4th almost cost them the game. Good thing Doc finally put Perk back in with just over 2 minutes left in the game.

It has become evident to me that we need a centre who can score on the low block. Everyone on this team is perimeter oriented, except the two rookies and do you really want to reley on Powe and Baby to go deep into the play offs????

definitely agree. Powe and Davis are the only guys off from the bench who go to work inside, we need at least one of them in the game when Perk is on the bench. The game was slipping away tonight until Perk came back in for Posey.

Agreed. Absolutely zero interior scoring and very little rebounding. It's no secret the offense becomes stagnant, and no second chance points with Posey playing the 4. I can't figure out why he does it, especially when Davis, Powe AND Perk were ALL playing great. Take your pick Doc. Today, any of them would have been fine.

I don't think we need a pure post scorer per-say, because both Powe and Davis are such effective rebounders. They also are good finishers, so they keep interior defenses honest. Plus with KG being such a phenomenal passer at the high post, interior passes to Powe, Baby, and Perk make for high percentage shots on their own, without the need for much creating.

Besides all that though ... who exactly was the low block scorer available that you'd hoped the C's would pick up?

For the most part I'd rather Posey @ PF than Scot Pollard PJ Brown or Scal in the game.

I don't like Posey @ PF so much with PP & Ray in the game except in occasional circumstances based on matchups. Posey @ PF should also ideally have TA defending a wing IMO.

I strongly dislike a Posey/PP/Ray/House lineup, regardless of the C

pure talent wise, posey at the 4 is our best lineup. problem is, it physically doesnt work all the time. i think its a good idea for maybe 5-7 mins a game where you think you could pull ahead with it offensively. otherwise, put something more conventional out there.

this lineup is ineffective. small ball does not seem to be something that works well with this team. the only time posey should be at the four spot is when we are playing the suns or some other team that goes small on.

garnett could finally start playing down low more and using his quickness to his advantage. that is what i would like to see. his fadeway out of the post is far and way the most reliable way for this team to get a bucket in the post.

Do you think Doc may have been managing an injury issue?

Anyways I'm glad to see Perk doing well, and Powe.

What an ineffective lineup. I won't rehash what you've already capably laid out, but jeez, if we all could see that, what the hell is wrong with Doc?

He took what should have been an easy win and turned it into a tight game down the stretch.

As somebody already pointed out, thank god noodlenoggin finally inserted Perk back in with around 2 minutes to go.

The fact is, Leon and Big Baby are very positive assets when on the floor, especially Leon. We need to have two of KG, Perk, BB and Leon on the floor at almost all times. PJ Brown may get added to that list. We'll see what sort of game he has left.
