Awww. <no pun intended> Russell thinks of KG as a son. That's nice.

I'd never! As great as KG is, it'd be like comparing Scal to the Truth

Good stuff.

One thing, though: Russell picks Dennis Johnson as best player in frachise history? I don't think I've ever heard that before.

I think you're exaggerating a little bit.

Russell > KG

BUT

Pierce >>>>>>>>>>> Scal

KG upon hearing Russell talk about going 0-for-13 and grabbing 35 boards with 10 blocks in a game
KG: "Did you ever block a shot in the front row and say, get it out of here?!!"

Russell: "No, because I would want him to think he can score on me again. (laughs)

KG: "word, word."

Bill Russell: 5 MVP's, 11 rings, 1 NCAA MOP, 2 NCAA titles in 16 years

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

1 MVP

at this stage of his career, KG is a long way off Bill.

So you based your comparison on accomplishments then? In that case,

Bill Russell >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anyone who has ever played in the NBA, and Pierce = Scalabrine in that regard (I'm talking about MVP awards and rings here).

Now, as far as basketball ability goes, Pierce >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Scalabrine, so I assumed SonicYouth34's comparison is based on that.

Russell however, is not head and shoulders above KG when you talk about basketball ability.

I have a nickname for Russell. Me and my friend call him Toe Ring Russell. He has too many rings for both hands...

Not just a champion this is further proof that Russell has always been a class act - taking little KG under his wing.
